After the first part of Attack on Titan: Final Season ended by Winter 2021, MAPPA immediately confirmed that there will be a second half. The second half will serve as an adaptation from the remaining chapters of the finished manga.
Hajime Isayama, a Japanese manga artist, released ‘Attack on Titan’ in 2009 as his first debut in the manga scene. It turned out that his first-ever creation was a success, as it has become one of the best-selling manga series of all time with 100 million copies in circulation as of December 2019. It’s also currently one of the most popular manga according to MyAnimeList.
In 2013, it was announced that Production I.G along with Wit Studio will adapt the first eight volumes from the best-selling manga of the same name, Attack on Titan. Just like the source, it blows up. Both of the studios surely did a great job in adapting a manga that got so many demands from the fans. However, it was said that Wit Studio will only adapt until the 22th volume, which is marked by the series Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2.
Two years after the release of Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2, MAPPA decided to adapt the remaining volumes of the manga, which will be the last season of the show itself. However, due to the lack of time, the last season wasn’t as big as the third season. Unlike Wit Studio, MAPPA used CGI that can be seen in some titan fights, which is considered as janky for some people. As for myself, I enjoyed watching the last season, even more than the first three. The animation wasn’t my concern at all, as I could still get excited by the story that’s coming to an end.
Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 1 Ending
Many of the fans are hyped for the second half, as the ending of the first half was a cliffhanger. The first part of the final season left us off with Reiner and his marleyan armies attacking Paradise island for revenge. What’s the reason behind their vengeance?
In the land of Marley nation, lived two young warriors named Gabi and Falco. Those two had been training hard for years to inherit one of the seven titans. During the process, Eren Jaeger and his fellow survey corps members attacked Marley while they were holding an event, where almost all leaders of nations came to discuss the fate of their world. As a result, those leaders were crushed into pieces, and the titans under Marley’s control had to fight back in order to protect their homeland.
In the aftermath, the land of Marley was destroyed, and many of the Marley titans were injured badly. What’s surprising is that some of the Marleyans, like the beast titan Zeke and Helene for example, were involved in the attack. Later, we will get to know the truth behind their reason for the assault of their own motherland.
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Announced
Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 Release Date
On the Twitter account of the anime adaptation of “Attack on Titan” it was announced that the second half of the fourth season will be broadcast in Japan from January 9, 2022.
As rumors have been spreading everywhere on the internet, it’s said that a different team will be working on the second part. It’s also said that the new team has been working on it for a much longer time, maybe even before the first part even aired. So, we can expect a good enough improvement for the second half.
Many fans were disappointed by the detailings and the blur filters in the first half, and the person who is responsible for that is the director of photography, Shigeki Asakawa. There were rumors that she will be replaced by a new one. We still don’t know whether it’s true or not, but let’s just hope that it’s for the best.
OAD also Announced
Even before the Final Season continues, there will also be a summary of the highlights so far as well as an OAD episode that tells the story from the point of view of Levi, Annie and Mikasa. However, further details and release dates are not yet known.
The second half of the fourth season, which concludes the adaptation of the manga by Hajime Isayama, is again created in the studio MAPPA. Yuuichirou Hayashi takes over the direction again, while Hiroshi Seko writes the script. Jun Shishido serves as Chief Director.
