Movie Surpasses 10 Million Tickets: The official Twitter of the anime adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge’s “Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train”, the anime’s voice actors announced that the film had attracted over 10 million viewers to Japanese cinemas within 16 days.

The film for the series “Demon Slayer” started on October 16, 2020, in Japan and broke all records: On the first weekend, over 3.4 million visitors streamed into the cinemas, making the film the strongest Japanese theatrical release of all time. At the same time, it was in first place in the global cinema charts at the start.
After ten days, “Demon Slayer could – The Movie: Mugen Train” with almost 8 million tickets sold the mark of 10 billion yen crack. Thus the film achieved such box office results before Hayao Miyazaki’s “Spirited Away in Magic Land”. The anime classic was the previous record-holder at 25 days.
To celebrate the success of the anime, a special event was also announced today: As part of the “Kimetsu Festival: Second Anniversary of Anime Celebration Festival”, there will be various activities and panels related to the anime. The event is planned for February 13th and 14th, 2021 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
The film premiered in over 400 local theaters and 38 IMAX theaters in Japan. It has also been reported that theaters are screening the film up to 40 times a day due to demand and are expected to create another milestone in the animation industry for the next weeks.
The film will be released in Southeast Asia by ODEX as early as November in selected countries and in early 2021 for the remaining over SEA countries. It will also premiere in North American theaters as early as 2021 by Funimation and Aniplex of America.
