Three years after the sequel was released, fans are looking for any hint from the creators about the possibility of The Incredibles 3. But will it happen?
After The Incredibles 2, the movie producer John Walker admitted that he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the third movie. But since the second movie gained US$1.24 billion at the worldwide box office, it is somehow surprising how the third movie hasn’t seen any sign of production.
Pixar Animation Studios (Inside Out) released The Incredibles 2 on June 15, 2018, although it took 14 years after the first movie premiered.
The Incredibles follows the story of Parr family whose all the members have superpowers. There is Bob Parr or Mr. Incredible who has a superhuman strength. His wife, Helen Parr or Elastigirl, is able to stretch parts of her body so long up to 90 meters.
Their first daughter, Violet Parr, is a teenage high school student who has the ability to be invisible. While her younger brother, Dash Parr, can move with a high speed.
The youngest kid who is called Jack-Jack is still a baby and everyone thought that he didn’t have a power. They are wrong, he does. He turns out possesses many powers, such as can multiply himself, transform to be a demon, laser eyes, fire, super-strength, and so on.
With that very interesting characters and plot, fans can’t wait to see how the story develops in The Incredibles 3.
Will There be The Incredibles 3?
But will there be The Incredibles 3? Considering that The Incredibles 2 was released 14 years after the first movie, should we wait another 14 years to see The Incredibles 3? Well, God forbid.
The writer and director of The Incredibles Brad Bird also admitted that he’s not in a rush to make another movie. Although he’s not closed the possibility, he says that he is going to do something else for a while before start again with the movie.
In respective, The Incredibles 2 was released three years after it was first announced. So even if it is confirmed this year, expect to see The Incredibles 3 in 2024 at the earliest.
The Incredibles 3: How the Story Will be
Well, even though Brad Bird himself hasn’t hinted much regarding how the story is going to be in The Incredibles 3—not sure if he already thinks about it though—there are some predictions that we can see about the plot.
Since Jack-Jack’s strength becomes stronger, we can see how Jack-Jack is getting older, and it will be interesting to see how he uses his power to the dark side, sort of like Star Wars-esque. This despite Brad Bird who said that he wouldn’t age anybody, but it is still a very interesting plot option.
We also can see the possibility for Underminer to return. The villain previously appears in the first and second movie of The Incredibles. He always gets away, so there is a huge chance that we will see him again in The Incredibles 3.
Who Will Return?
In The Incredibles 3, the original main casts likely will return. So we probably will see Craig T Nelson as Bob, Holly Hunter as Helen, Sarah Vowell as Violet, and Huck Milner as Dash.
Dash is a bit tricky here. They need to keep the voice for a 10-year-old boy. In the first movie, Spencer Fox casts as Dash. But since 14 years later his voice is getting deeper, they cast Huck Milner for the second movie.
So it depends on when The Incredibles 3 is out, there is possibility that they will cast a new person for Dash, in case Huck Milner’s voice is too deep already by the time the filming of the third movie starts.
Meanwhile, Samuel L Jackson can also return as Frozone.
