Will we ever get to see Ahiru no Sora Season 2?
Ahiru no Sora is a basketball-themed anime that includes other genres such as comedy and drama. Set on a school nuance, the series follows the story of Sora Kurumatani as he tries to become a competent basketball player along with the struggle that he experiences because of his short height.
The anime series Ahiru no Sora is an adaptation of a manga under the same name written and illustrated by Takeshi Hinata. It started serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine on December 10, 2003. The first-ever volume was released on May 17, 2004. As of June 17, 2019, there are 51 volumes that have been released. The manga series was a huge success, as many of its volumes have won best-selling manga volumes. In fact, as of February 28, 2018, the manga had 24 million copies in print.
The anime adaptation Ahiru no Sora is produced by Diomodea, the studio that can be seen producing several anime titles such as Domestic Girlfriend, Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren’t They? and Aho Girl. Before Diomodea, the author has received many proposals which he refused as they wanted to change the scenario. He accepted Diomodea’s proposal that time as a present for the fans.
When will Ahiru no Sora Season 2 be released?
Licensed by Sentai Filmworks, the first season of the anime series Ahiru no Sora was premiered on October 2, 2019, and ran for 50 episodes before finally concluding a year later on September 30, 2020. Despite having that many episodes, the anime series still has a long way to go for the story, as the first season didn’t leave us with a genuine ending yet. So, will there be Ahiru no Sora Season 2 to continue the series?
As of now, we haven’t received any news or information from the author or the studio regarding the release date of Ahiru no Sora Season 2. We don’t know whether the anime series will get renewed or canceled.
Is there enough source material?
It was stated by Takeshi Hinata, the author of the manga series, that the 51st volume will be the last volume of the manga, as it has already entered the final arc. The anime series has adapted the first 18 volumes out of it, so there will be more than enough source material for Ahiru no Sora Season 2.
Will there be Ahiru no Sora Season 2?
Even though the amount of source material is sufficient enough for a season renewal, it is best to believe that Ahiru no Sora Season 2 might not be possible. The reason is that the author was disappointed by the anime adaptation that Diomedea has thrown. He even apologized to the fans for the bad production for the adaptation.
English translation: I thought something was wrong because DM came in quick succession. “It can’t be helped because it’s Diomedéa” I’d like to say that, but it doesn’t look like it’s my own manga. I’m sorry if it made the fans of the work uncomfortable. For pure Ahiru no Sora readers. I think it’s the worst production that deserves disappointment. Again, apologize.
Another reason is that the fact the anime series already ran for an entire 4 cour season, it is possible that we might not get Ahiru no Sora Season 2.
Ahiru no Sora Action
He’s short, weak, and has just transferred to a new school. Sora Kurumatani is the main character in this story who loves basketball. He has been shooting hoops ever since he was a little boy and has been trying to grow tall just like his mother, who “used” to be a basketball player. What has happened to her and what Sora is going to do at the new school is all up to you to find out.
He made a promise to his mother “I will dominate my first high school tournament”. But as he joins the basketball club after entering Kuzuryū High, he finds out that it’s become a stomping ground for delinquents. A place where everything but basketball is done, but with Sora’s genuine zeal for basketball, things begin to stir.
