Is there any chance for Akiba’s Trip Season 2?
Akiba’s Trip is anime that falls under the action, comedy, supernatural, and ecchi genres. The series follows the story of Tamotsu Denkigai, who turned into vampiric cosplaying monsters known as “Bugged Ones” under unfortunate circumstances. He teamed up with the mysterious baseball bat-wielding Matome Mayonaka and otaku cosplayer Arisa Ahokainen and form a group called “The Electric Mayonnaise” to dispatch those creatures.
The series Akiba’s Trip began life as a PSP game that made its debut in 2011. Developed by Acquire, who is also the mastermind behind the series Divine Gate, the game series Akiba’s Trip was exclusively released in Japan. The first game in the Akiba’s Trip series was released on May 19, 2011, followed by a sequel entitled Akiba’s Trip 2 or also known as Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed.
Also, the game has expanded its series with the release of Akiba’s Trip: First Memory and Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed that was released in Japan on May 20, 2021, and in North America on July 20, 2021, respectively. They are available on both Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
It was announced at Tokyo Game Show on September 15, 2016, that the game series Akiba’s Trip will have an anime television series adaptation titled Akiba’s Trip: The Animation. Gonzo, the studio that is best known for its popular anime releases such as Hellsing, Welcome to the N.H.K., and Rosario + Vampire, is responsible for producing the anime adaptation. Fun fact, the anime is meant to commemorate studio Gonzo’s 25th anniversary.
Will there be Akiba’s Trip Season 2?
Akiba’s Trip: The Animation was first aired on January 4, 2017, and ran for 13 episodes before concluding on March 29 of the same year. As the anime series has received a lot of fans, many of them are craving a sequel to the anime series. So, will there be Akiba’s Trip Season 2?
As of now, we haven’t received any pieces of information from the studio regarding Akiba’s Trip Season 2. We don’t know whether the anime series will receive a season renewal or get canceled. However, it is best to believe that there will be no Akiba’s Trip Season 2. The reason is that game adaptation rarely gets a second season unless they have a huge following, and sadly that is not the case for Akiba’s Trip. Also, the series did not do well in terms of BD sales.
Last but not least, the anime adaptation didn’t follow the story of the game, so it would be nearly impossible for the studio to pick up the story from the game if they want to make another season. At this point, it is pretty obvious that the studio made the adaptation only for advertising purposes to promote the game. So, at the end of the day, the chances of Akiba’s Trip Season 2 are close to nil.
