Manga Productions and NEOM recently announced in a press release that they are working in cooperation with Toei Animation on a second season of “Future Folktales” (Jap.: “Asatir: Mirai no Mukashi Banashi”).
First Season Ran in Spring 2020
For the second season, an international competition for prop design will be held, which will be used in the production. The new episodes are set in NEOM, a planned smart city in Saudi Arabia. A start date and further details are still pending.
The 13-part first season was directed by Masami Shimoda (“11eyes”) at Studio Toei Animation. The series ran on Japanese television between April and June 2020.
