Nothing can stop Ryan Murphy and his American Horror Stories spin-offs. First, FX renews the anthology American Horror Stories for a season 2. The series, coming soon on Disney+, will return for new episodes next year.
Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck, the creators of the parent series, American Horror Stories is an hour-long anthology series that features a different horror story with each episode, some of which are connected to the original series. Matt Bomer, Billie Lourd, John Carroll Lynch and Naomi Grossman are among the AHS alumni who appeared on American Horror Stories during the series. Danny Trejo, Aaron Tveit, Paris Jackson, Madison Bailey, Kevin McHale and Virginia Garndner were also part of the cast.
But that’s not all, FX (“Fargo“) is expanding the franchise with two new spin-off series, American Sports Story and American Love Story, produced by Murphy and colleagues Brad Falchuk, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson.
American Sports History is an anthology that focuses on a major event involving a sports figure and re-examines it through the prism of today’s world, telling that story from multiple angles. Written by Stu Zicherman (The Americans), the first season of Sports History, currently untitled, is based on the Boston Globe and Wondery’s Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc podcast. The limited series traces the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the connections between the various threads of his identity, family, career, suicide and his legacy in American sports and culture.
American Love Story is an anthology series that traces the true love stories that have caught the world’s attention. The first season depicts the courtship and marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. What began as a beautiful union for the young couple, widely regarded as American royalty, has begun to crumble under the stress of the relentless microscope and the gaze of the tabloid media. The pressures of their careers and rumors of family discord ended with their tragic death when their private plane crashed into the ocean on a hazy summer night off the coast of Massachusetts.
Mother series American Horror Story returns on August 25, as for American Crime Story, the season focusing on the Monica Lewinsky affair, arrives on September 7.
