Battle Game in 5 Seconds, otherwise known as Deatte 5-byou de Battle or DEA5, is an anime that has been aired in the Summer of 2021, alongside many other titles. As the title suggests, the series falls under the supernatural and action genre and focuses on superpowers and games as its theme.
The anime is an adaptation of a manga from the same title with Saizou Harawata as the author and Miyako Kashiwa as the illustrator. The series began life as a webcomic, followed by a remake of it in the form of manga that has been published in Ura Sunday and MangaONE since August 2015. The manga has also been published digitally in English through the Comikey service since July 12, 2021.
The adaptation is done by two studios, SynergrySP and Vega Entertainment. None of the studios have shown that much of a presence in the anime community. To put it into perspective, SynergySP’s most famous title, Hayate no Gotoku, has only around 200.000 members in MyAnimeList, which is inferior to new anime nowadays. Vega Entertainment, on the other hand, doesn’t have any series that exceeds the 50.000 mark, but luckily Battle Game in 5 Seconds made a new record, coming in at around 100.000 members.
Will there be Battle Game in 5 Seconds Season 2?
The first season of Battle Game in 5 Seconds has been aired on July 13, 2021, and has finally concluded on September 28, 2021, with a total of 12 episodes. As the last episode shows the audience a cliffhanger, with Yuuri and Akira realizing that they were in the fourth program with unknown adversaries awaiting them in an all-out battle royal between participants. With that being said, many of the fans are eager to know the continuation of it. So, will there be Battle Game in 5 Seconds Season 2 to put an end to the curiosity of the fans?
As of now, we have not received any words from the studio nor the authors regarding the whereabouts of Battle Game in 5 Seconds Season 2. However, it is possible for a second season to be announced soon.
One of the most important key factors in the making of a new season lies in the availability of the source material. If the source material is sufficient enough for another adaptation, then a sequel would be possible. In Battle Game in 5 Seconds’ case, the manga is way ahead of the anime, as the ongoing manga series is currently sitting on 17th volume, while the anime has only covered less than half of it at the 7th volume. So, we would not have to worry about the source material at the very least.
In fact, what we should be worrying about right now would be the negative reviews that the anime has been getting since it has finished to air, mostly from the manga readers, who were left unsatisfied with the anime adaptation. It would most likely decrease the possibility of having a second season, but on the contrary, as the anime has received a decent amount of viewers, it would be enough to warrant a new season.
Battle Game in 5 Seconds Season 2 Plot
Akira would consider Omoto’s offer to work together as a team and accomplish their mission in killing Mion. It is still not clear how they will manage to work together, so the next episode would give an idea to it. However, Kitajima and Rin Kashii will join in the perilous ordeal. All of the participants will be put together in an all-out battle, and not only the participants, but the observers including Mion will fight too. Among all of them, only six would be chosen to advance to the final program.
