Just by having the famous Paul Rudd as its protagonist, no wonder that this series is a massive hit and people are wondering about the release date of Living with Yourself season 2—if it ever happens.
Netflix original series, Living with Yourself is featuring not only one, but two Paul Rudds.
Consists of eight episodes, this comedy TV series follows the story of Miles Elliot (Paul Rudd) who is unhappy and not satisfied with his life, and so he goes to a strange spa only to end up having himself cloned. Because of that, he has to face that he will live with himself—just like the title.
Premiered on October 18, 2019, IMDB gives this TV series 7.2 out of 10 scores. And with such a cliffhanger ending, fans are craving to see Living with Yourself season 2.
How Living with Yourself Ends?
As mentioned before, this series is about Miles Elliot who basically hates his life—to the point when he kills a fly, he says that the fly should be grateful because he helps the fly to get out of this cruel life.
Anyway, Mile spends US$50.000—which supposedly will be used for his and his wife fertility treatment—to go to a Happy Spa that claims will change his life for the better. But as the process went wrong, Miles instead is being cloned, and the real him ends up in a makeshift grave in the middle of the woods.
So haunted by existential crisis, the real Miles finds the clone happier Miles, who has his memories and his body. Both of them have to life with their wife Kate, and the series tell us their ups and downs moment filled with comedy.
The series ends with the clone Miles confesses to the real Miles that he loves Miles’ life and how he loves Kate so much, and they are both hugging. Kate enters the room and seeing both of Miles made up, and she announces that she is pregnant. No one knows who the father is, or maybe both of them are.
In spite of feeling confused and surprised, in the end they feel so happy and the three of them are hugging. And that’s a wrap.
Will There be Living with Yourself Season 2?
To be honest, no matter how beautiful the ending is, it’s weird and not solving the problem. How can they live forever with two Miles? I need some explanation and closure here, so are other fans.
Unfortunately, Netflix (The Crew) hasn’t confirmed or canceled Living with Yourself season 2. So it is safe to say that there is a 50/50 chance about the next season. However, the series is always meant to be a single season.
The creator, Timothy Greenberg, once told The Hollywood Reporter that since Paul Rudd had never played in a TV series before, he’s not really into an open-ended thing and to play a character forever. That being said, it doesn’t mean that they will not consider Living with Yourself season 2.
Somehow it is pretty clear that the fate of Living with Yourself season 2 depends on Paul Rudd’s interest to return for the second season. But since Paul Rudd is so busy with the third Ant-Man, and considering how playing multiple characters would take a lot of work, no one can really blame him if he decided that one season is enough.
How will the Plot be?
Let’s assume that there will be Living with Yourself season 2. How the story is going to be?
Well, the first season ends with a big question mark. What is going to happen with the family who is expecting a baby, since there are two fathers? What about the real Miles, will he feel insecure by his clone who is better than him in so many ways? And how is this polyandry marriage is going to work out?
It will be interesting if the second season will answer and solve all those questions. It is also expected will be more intense, and will point out the true meaning of living with yourself, accepting yourself, and how we can be a better version of ourselves—without having to clone ourselves, of course.
There is this alternative theory as well, that it will not be about Miles Elliot anymore. What about another story of successful clone to have a happier life in another countries?
Who will be in It?
Since Paul Rudd’s interest in the second season is the major—if not most important—factor for a renewal, we can expect that there should be Paul Rudd in Living with Yourself season 2. After all, it will be a whole different show without him.
Another most important character is Kate, so most likely Aisling Bea will return.
And if it is true that there are other people who go through this clone process, it means that there will be new faces in Living with Yourself season 2.
