Odd Taxi, stylized as ODDTAXI, is a Japanese anime television series produced by OLM and P.I.C.S, which is adapted from the Japanese manga of the same name, Written by Kazuya Konomoto and Illustrated by Takeichi Abaraya. The series aired on TV Tokyo and AT-X in Japan from April 6 to June 29, 2021.
Set in a world of anthropomorphic animals, Odd Taxi follows the story of Odokawa, a 41-year old walrus taxi driver whose parents abandoned him in elementary school, leaving him generally asocial. However, he usually has conversations with other animal inhabitants who ride in his taxi on their respective journeys around Tokyo, where the series is set. Odokawa’s conversations with these people unravel into a series of mysteries and acts of violence, including that of a missing high school girl.
Will there be a Odd Taxi Season 2?
The first season ended on June 29, 2021 with 13 episodes. Currently, no renewal announcement has been made regarding Season 2 of Odd Taxi on Crunchyroll ! As the first season ended in a cliffhanger, there could be a significant possibility for the development of Odd Taxi Season 2. Anthropomorphic characters have long been used to tell complex and parabolic stories in various types of literary and entertainment media, and anime is no exception.
Odd Taxi Season 2 Release Date
Odd Taxi is produced under the direction of director Mugi Kinoshita, who makes his directorial debut with it. Kazuya Konomoto (‘Black School Rules, Setoutsumi’) writes the screenplay, while the music is contributed by hip-hop artists PUNPEE, VaVa and OMSB.
The animation is provided by the studio P.I.C.S., which was previously responsible for The Journey Home, and the studio OLM, which is known for various Pokémon anime and Inazuma Eleven, among other things.
Studio OLM’s upcoming anime Komi Can’t Communicate launch is scheduled for October 2021.
At the time of writing, the series has not yet officially been renewed. However, we do not expect the series to return for Season 2.
If and when the manga goes beyond the events described in the anime, it can potentially serve as a source for Season 2. Another possibility is for Konomoto to repeat what he did in Season 1 and create an original story. With all this in mind, it can be assumed that Odd Taxi Season 2 release date on Crunchyroll should be set for early 2023.
Plot of Odd Taxi Season 2: What can we expect from the future?
Shirakawa saves Odokawa from drowning in the river, after which he begins to see humans as humans again. Imai visits him in the hospital and gives him the 100 million collected in the river. However, Odokawa decides to give the money to Kuroda. The season ends when Sakura, who turns out to be Yuki’s killer, gets into Odokawa’s taxi.
In Season 2 of Odd Taxi, we will probably know if Odokawa survived his encounter with Sakura. If so, the relationship between him and Shirakawa will likely develop further. Maybe we’ll learn how Baba and Shibagaki are doing since they decided to give their relationship another chance. Dobu and the elder Daimon could get out of jail and go after those they believe hurt them.
