There is an exciting news for the fans of this phenomenal Disney princess story: Disney will release Beauty and The Beast prequel series!
Beauty and The Beast is one of the classic Disney princess stories, that has been adapted to live-action movie as well in 2017. Now, Disney will come up with a new Beauty and The Beast prequel series, meaning that it will tell us the story of what happened years before the event in the live-action movie.
It is reported that Beauty and The Beast prequel series still will take place in magical kingdom. However, instead of focus on Beast and Belle, it will highlight another characters such as Gaston, Louie (or LeFou), and a new character, Louie’s stepsister, Tilly.
After finding out about Tilly’s secret and reveal other secrets in the kingdom, the three of them embark the dangerous journey.
After first released in 1991, this limited musical series will also serve as a celebration for Beauty and The Beast 30th anniversary.
Will be filled with comedy, romance, drama, and adventure, Beauty and The Beast prequel series will consist of eight episodes.
The upcoming TV show will have Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, and Josh Gad as the showrunners. It will also be executively produced by Gad, Kitsis, Horowitz, and Alan Menken. Meanwhile, the soundtrack for this TV series will be released by Walt Disney Records.

When Beauty and The Beast Prequel Series Will be Released?
Unfortunately, Beauty and The Beast prequel series hasn’t started the filming yet at least until spring 2022. So, fans still need to be extra patient and wait for quite some time to see Beauty and The Beast prequel series.
It means that there hasn’t been any announcement regarding the release date yet. But since the filming process will be only started in spring this year, we can expect to see Beauty and The Beast prequel series at the end of 2022 at the earliest, or even in 2023, on Disney+.
Beauty and The Beast Prequel Series: The Plot
As mentioned earlier, instead of focusing on Belle and Beast like in the main movie and story, Beauty and The Beast prequel series will mostly talk about Gaston, Louie, and Tilly. The show will tell us about their journey and how they can be good friends—against all odds. One by one, they will reveal the past and the secrets that may be hidden all this time.
Not just about that, maybe we can also explore more about the origin of why Beast is spelled into a beast and the story of the enchantress that curses him.
Beauty and The Beast Prequel Series: Who Will Appear?
Excitingly, it has been confirmed that Gaston—as one of the main characters—will be played by Luke Evans, as he also played the role of Gaston in the main 2017 movie. He recently also appeared in The Pembrokeshire Murders in ITV. In 2014, he is well known to play the role of Dracula in Dracula Untold.
Another lead character in the show is LeFou (Louie) which will be played by Josh Gad, who also played in the original movie as well.
Tilly, on the other hand, will be played by Briana Middleton—who will also appear in the upcoming movie by Amazon Studios, Tender Bar.
There is no official announcement that other lead roles in the original movie, Emma Watson (who is well known for her role in Harry Potter) as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast will appear in Beauty and The Beast prequel series. That being said, there is still possibility for them to somehow appear as guests in the show.
