To make matters even more complicated, Samantha has a near-death experience that allows her to see and hear the ghosts. Thus begins the battle of wits between the ghost and the pair. Ghosts Season 2: Potential Release Date
‘Ghosts’ season 1 premiered on CBS on October 7, 2021 and ended on March 3, 2022. The season premiere featured a total of 15 episodes, with a runtime of approximately 21-22 minutes each.
Now, let’s find out more about the second season. The good news is that the network officially renewed the show for another season on January 24, 2022. Kelly Kahl, President of CBS Entertainment, confirmed a second season and praised the outstanding performance in its debut season. In a statement, he said, “Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, along with an amazing cast and amazing writer, have done an incredible job adapting Ghosts for the US and really making it theirs. This witty and captivating show brings new creativity, not to mention spooking new audiences every week.”
With the second season being confirmed by the creators, it won’t be long before they start production. Its release date will be determined by filming and post-production plans, cast and crew availability, and the network’s programming schedule. If all goes well, ‘Ghosts’ season 2 is expected to arrive in Q4 2022 or Q1 2023.
Ghosts Season 2: Expected Cast
Season 2 will show Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar returning to the roles of Samantha and Jay, the protagonists. The returning cast may also include Asher Grodman as Trevor, Richie Moriarty as Pete, and Sheila Carrasco as Susan AKA Flower. In addition, Danielle Pinnock (Alberta), Brandon Scott Jones (Captain Isaac), Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty), and Hudson Thames (Crash) are expected to reappear in the upcoming season. Other returning cast members include Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), Devan Chandler Long (Thorfinn), Stuart Fink (Stuart), Arthur Holden (Creepy Dirk), Cody Crain (Cody), and Betsy Sodaro (Nancy). Apart from the previously mentioned members, new actors can join as new characters in the second season.
Ghosts Season 2: Expected Plot
In season 1, New Yorkers Samantha and Jay Arondekar move into their newly inherited country house. Unbeknownst to them, the property hosts several ghosts who died right there in the last millennium. The spooky occupants of the house opposes the couple’s plans and thus tries to scare them to no avail. However, one of their failed attempts causes Samantha to nearly die after falling down the stairs.
Samantha survives but gains the ability to see and hear ghosts, which she initially refuses to believe. After the failed attempts of the ghosts trying to sabotage Jay and Samantha’s plans, they begin to warm up to the couple. Samantha introduces the ghost to social media and the internet, which causes minor problems with Jay’s sister, Bela. The Arondekars hold a Viking funeral for Thorfinn, while Hetty tries to escape from the mansion in Jay’s body but failed. Later, Samantha and Jay try to unite Sasappis with the ghost of her long-distance lover, Shiki.
In addition, Pete accepts the betrayal of his wife and best friend that occurred before his death. He eventually falls in love with Alberta, but he refuses to reciprocate his feelings, causing him to seek the help of Cholera victim Nancy. Elsewhere, Sam reconnects with his mother’s spirit and finds its closure. As the season ends, the group faces some problems created by the ghost of Hetty’s husband, but he ends up throwing them to hell. On the other hand, Sasappis displays his rich heritage, while Sam makes Thorfinn seek the help of a therapist when he experiences night terrors.
Season 2 will most likely feature the new adventures of Arondekar and their ghost friends and tell us whether or not Pete can finally seduce Alberta. Other story arcs that might be explored include Bela’s new belief in ghosts, Hetty causing more damage, and the ghost’s past being explored further.
