Mark Millar, creator of The Legacy of Jupiter, the two Kick-Ass and the two Kingsman (secret service) is preparing a new project for Netflix. This project will be based on a brand new comic book King of Spies created by Millar and published by the Scottish producer and screenwriter.
Mark Millar announces the comic book King of Spies on Netflix
The announcement was made by Netflix’s Twitter account:
In King of Spies, Britain’s greatest secret agent faces his deadliest enemy yet – his own mortality. Diagnosed with a brain tumor and six months to live, the retired Sir Roland King looks around at the world he’s saved so many times and feels he can’t leave us in such a mess. There’s greed and corruption at every level, untouchable despots he was forbidden to go near, and a system he just doesn’t believe in anymore. He wants to use his remaining time to make a difference with his particular set of skills and repair the damage he did in his private life at the same time. The most dangerous man in the world has gone rogue and he knows where all the bodies are buried. Now it’s time to go after the REAL monsters.
The story clearly has an air of James Bond and this is compounded by the strange resemblance of the character depicted above to former agent 007 Pierce Brosnan. Jupiter’s Legacy, Millarworld’s first big project at Netflix (The Last Kingdom), was canceled one month after premiering its first and only season. Millar is planning to continue the property as a comic series. Meanwhile, Millarworld and Netflix (‘Bridgerton Season 2‘) are still planning to release a Supercrooks anime series later this year.
