Netflix has continue it’s investment in animated shows and films to continue its success as a powerhouse of streaming and from all the lineups of animations announced for 2022, none has been more mysterious and intriguing as Netflix The House which just dropped its first trailer earlier this December.
This limited series is yet another surrealist stop-motion animation series, a genre that’s so far is only limited to the works of Laika studios, and has a lot of big names attached to it so it is not surprising to see people anticipating Netflix The House. When will Netflix The House be Released?
At the time of writing, Netflix The House will come to the streaming platform on January 14, 2022 which is sooner than most people would expect. As we are mere days away from 2022, Netflix subscribers (or people who shared subscribers, don’t worry we don’t judge) will see more shows 2022 is coming up fast, and that means Netflix is releasing more shows and movies than ever before.
Netflix (Luna Nera Season 2) has announced the latest additions to its large catalog of content, as well as some release dates, and with that in mind, audiences can expect “The House ” to drop on January 14, 2022. “The House” will not be the only new Netflix series that melds horror and humor. Also being released is Kristen Bell’s series, “The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window.” The psychological thriller is about a troubled young woman in the vein of “The Girl On the Train.” This series deals with heavy material but also has some humor mixed in, in a way making it very similar to “The House.”
Who will be in Netflix The House?
As The House is an anthology series, each episodes will feature different actors and actresses and what’s surprising is that all the people involved are high profile actors and actresses respectable in their field.
Chapter 1 alone has exciting prospects with Matthew Goode and Mia Goth as part of the Raymond family that first encounters the house. Also included in the cast is Miranda Richardson as Aunt Clarice (via Deadline). Goode, Goth, and Richardson have all had experience in the macabre. Goode appeared in “Stoker,” which was a romantic film full of violence. Goth appeared in “Suspiria,” while Richardson has been a part of multiple Tim Burton films.
Chapter 2 has musician and writer Jarvis Cocker in the main role. Chapter 3 rounds out the cast with Helena Bonham-Carter as Jen, the last tenant of the house. Also to appear are Paul Kaye and Susan Wokoma, the latter of whom has Netflix credits such as “Crazyhead” and “Enola Holmes” (via Vox). With voice actors of this repute, it stands to reason that “The House” will be quite impressive.
What’s Netflix The House is About?
The three episodes of “The House” are in the style of an anthology. Each episode is directed by a different director and a different host of characters. While the characters change, each story revolves around the titular house at different times in chronological order. The first episode is directed by Emma de Swaef and Marc James Roels. This story revolves around a family that moves into the house in the 19th century.
The second episode takes place during the present day and is directed by Niki Lindroth von Bahr. This houseguest is a property developer and finds that the house has been infested. The last episode is directed by Paloma Baeza, and it looks to take place during an end-times scenario. Jen (Helena Bonham-Carter) is attempting to fix up the house in a desolate landscape. All three stories are connected thematically. With the stop-motion animation, the characters are also followed by creepy happenstances and disturbing imagery.
