The entertainment website “The Wrap” reported today that a total of 27 films have been nominated for nomination in the category “Animated Feature Film” at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards, also known as “Oscars”. Among them are six anime films.
Only five films are nominated
Unsurprisingly, the film “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train” is one of the works that could be considered for Oscars 2021 nomination, which is now considered the most successful film of all time in Japanese cinemas.
In addition, studio Ghibli’s first CGI film, “Aya and the Witch” and the Netflix film “Um ein Schnurrhaar” also have the chance to be nominated for the coveted film award. “Lupin III THE FIRST”, “Ride Your Wave” and “ON-GAKU: Our Sound” were also submitted.
Which five films will make it to the final selection will be announced on 15 March 2021. This year’s Academy Awards are scheduled for April 25, 2021. Below is the list of all films suggested for the Animated Feature Film category.
