After released tons of horror movies and TV series, Blumhouse at first acquired rights to the new upcoming horror thriller TV series: The Horror of Dolores Roach. However, it has since been announced that the show will be continued on Amazon.
Based on a podcast on Spotify by Gimlet Media with the same title, The Horror of Dolores Roach follows the story of a woman named Dolores who returns to her neighborhood in New York after 16 years in prison. Decided to stay with her friend Luis, it turns out that her expected-to-be calm and peaceful life is threatened by a horror event.
The Horror of Dolores Roach might remind us of something like the classic horror musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which Tim Burton made into a film, starring Johnny Depp—tells us the story of ‘eat or being eaten’, or also known as survival of the fittest.
Blumhose in 2019 actually won the rights to adapt the podcast into screen, in a very competitive situation. However, Amazon Studios takes over the project since 2020. So later on, The Horror of Dolores Roach will be premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime Video (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5), and will be available in more than 20 countries and territories all over the world.
This horror dark comedy upcoming TV series is based on a podcast which was developed by the podcast creator Aaron Mark. Aaron Mark wrote the pilot script as well. Mark and Dara Resnik will be the co-showrunners. They will also serve as the executive producers alongside Gloria Calderón Kellett, Rubin-Vega, and Roxann Dawson.
The TV series is planned to consist of eight episodes with the duration of around 30 minutes each episode.

Sadly, so far there is no official information regarding the official release date of The Horror of Dolores Roach. The show was first picked up by Blumhouse in 2019, but then in 2020 it was obtained by Amazon Prime (As We See It).
