The Legend of Vox Machina Release Date
“The Legend of Vox Machina” will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 28, 2022, after being delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This animated series has been in the making for many years. The fantasy world was created by Matthew Mercer in 2012, before launching as the acclaimed “Critical Role” web series in 2015. Back in 2019, players launched a kickstarter campaign for the animated series that didn’t last long enough for a 10-episode season but was the fastest-funded Kickstarter in history. Amazon Prime Video (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5) later acquired distribution rights and commissioned a second season.
What is The Legend of Vox Machina About?
“Critical Role” began as a live-streaming web series featuring a group of friends—all voice actors—playing the role-playing game “Dungeons and Dragons” together. It has since morphed into podcasts, comic series, books, and more — including this upcoming animated series.

From a sinister necromancer to a powerful curse, the group confronts a variety of obstacles that not only test their skills, but also the strength of their bond.
