Barkskins Season 1 Overview
Based on the Pulitzer-winning novel by Annie Proulx, Barkskins follows a group of outcasts who must navigate themselves through brutal adversity, competing interests, and tangled loyalties at the crossroads of late 1600s New France civilization.
Barskins shows the arrival of British and French immigrants to the New World through the story of two immigrants from New France and the woodcutters’ (‘Barkskins, says contract servant’) stories. During the first season of Barkskins, Rene Sel and Charles Duquet were introduced to us as a foreigner to the lands of New France. They have made to start their going with their activities. The story is set in Barkskins transporting people in the late 17th century. New France threatens everyone by fighting against them. The extraordinary new frontier forces a confrontation between foreigners and local struggles. These rebellions carve their own place on the American continent through a struggle for survival. The ending of Barkskins Season 1 isn’t over yet as it has delivered new, suspenseful themes for audiences who were expecting a lot of twists and turns.

In the first season, we get to see a lot of familiar faces. Most of the cast played an important role in the first season. Dunkirk actor Aneurin Barnard brilliantly portrays Hamish Goames. First Wives Club actress Marcia Gay Harden played the role of Mathilde Geffard on the show. The Where the Heart Is star plays as Rene Sel.
Other cast members include David Thewlis as Claude Trepagny, James Bloor as Charles Duquet, Lily Sullivan as Delphine, Domenic Di Rosa as Pastor Gabriel, Thomas M. Given the fate of the second season still hanging in the air, it’s hard to predict when it will be released. So, it’s very likely that it has affected this show as well.

National Geographic has officially canceled the TV series Barkskins. Season 1 of Barkskins will be the final season. National Geographic has no plans for the next season, but we can never be sure.
For now, all fans can do is hope that the network will soon adopt the show onto the new platform for a second season. As per reviews, the event has gotten a rating of 67% on rotten tomatoes.
