Will we ever get Dimension W Season 2?
Dimension W, one of the many anime series that falls under the action and Sci-Fi genres. The anime series follows the story of Kyouma Mabuchi and Mira Yurizaki as they try to uncover the mysteries that lie beneath Dimension W, a fourth dimension that contains an infinite source of energy.
The anime series Dimension W is an adaptation of a manga series under the same name written and illustrated by Yuji Iwahara, who is also the mastermind behind other manga series such as Chikyu Misaki, King of Thorn, and The Wolf Eyes. The manga series Dimension W has been serialized in Young Gangan since September 16, 2011. Luckily, the manga is available for fans outside Japan to read, as it has been published by Yen Press in English since February 23, 2016, and by Waneko in Polish since July 26, 2016.
The anime adaptation Dimension W was first announced to be in production at Anime Expo 2015 in Los Angeles. There are two studios that are in charge of the production of the adaptation. Studio 3Hz is responsible for animation production, while Orange is responsible for CG production. Both of the studios have released other popular anime series besides Dimension W such as Black Bullet, and Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online by Orange and Studio 3Hz, respectively.
Will there be Dimension W Season 2?
The first season of Dimension W season was aired from January 10, 2016, to March 27 of the same year with a total of 12 episodes. It was well-received by the people in the anime community and has received a decent score of 7.20 by 130,000 members in MyAnimeList. After the first season has ended, many of them immediately want to see the continuation of it. So, will there be Dimension W Season 2 to answer the demands from the fans?
By the time of writing, we haven’t received any words from the author or the studio on the whereabouts of Dimension W Season 2. We don’t have any information on whether the anime series will be renewed or canceled. However, it might be possible that we won’t be getting Dimension W Season 2. The main reason is that the anime adaptation was made only to promote the source. The fact that the anime series was rushed and skips some of the arcs made it very obvious that the adaptation is aimed to advertise the source. That said, the studio does not intend to continue the series in the first place.
Also, with the manga series has already come to an end and stopped its publication, it would be unnecessary for the studio to make Dimension W Season 2.
The anime compared to the manga series
The anime series Dimension W has covered the first 9 volumes of the manga series, while the manga series itself has been finished with 16 volumes. So, if you want to start reading the manga, you can start from the 9th volume and onwards. However, to avoid confusion, it is best to start from the beginning, as the anime has skipped a lot of parts from the manga.
Dimension W Action
In the near future, humans have discovered a fourth dimension, Dimension W, and a supposedly infinite source of energy within. In order to harness this profound new energy, mankind develops advanced “coils,” devices that link to and use the power of Dimension W. However, by the year 2071, the New Tesla Energy corporation has monopolized the energy industry with coils, soon leading to the illegal distribution of unofficial coils that begin flooding the markets.
Kyouma Mabuchi is an ex-soldier who is wary of all coil-based technology to the extent that he still drives a gas-powered car. Kyouma is a “Collector,” individuals with the sole duty of hunting down illegal coils in exchange for money. What started out as just any other mission is turned on its head when he bumps in Mira Yurizaki, an android with a connection to the “father” of coils. When a series of strange events begin to take place, these two unlikely allies band together to uncover the mysteries of Dimension W.
