Will there ever be Interspecies Reviewers Season 2?
The ecchi genre could be considered as a common genre nowadays, and as many people are leaning towards it, more and more studios are bound to produce shows with remarkable ecchi themes. Among the competition, there is one by the name of Interspecies Reviewers that outshines most of the shows and has made a huge controversy in the community.
Unique and funny are the two things that can describe Interspecies Reviewers. With a well-executed plot, many people are pleased with what the show has to offer. All the praises must go to Amahara, the author of the manga series under the same title from which the anime adaptation took from. With illustrations by Masha, the manga series is also a no slouch in terms of art style. It has been serialized through Nico Nico Seiga’s manga website Dragon Age since August 2016 and since collected in four tankōbon volumes published by Kadokawa. It has also been licensed in English by Yen Press.
The studio Passione is the one that is in charge of adapting Amahara’s exceptional piece of work into an anime series. The anime series does live up to its source thanks to Passione that has been really passionate about the adaptation. Besides Interspecies Reviewers, Passione has also released other popular anime releases such as Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers, Citrus, and High School DxD Hero.
Will Interspecies Reviewers Season 2 be possible?
The first season of the anime series Interspecies Reviewers had started to premiere on January 11, 2020, and ran for 12 episodes before finally concluding on March 28 of the same year. Many hardcore ecchi fans have come to a liking for the anime series. It is heaven for many of them. That said, they are craving for a season renewal to see the continuation of their favorite series. So, will there be Interspecies Reviewers Season 2 to satisfy the fans?
As of now, we haven’t heard any words from the author or the studio regarding Interspecies Reviewers Season 2. We don’t know whether it will get renewed or canceled. However, there is a possibility that the reason why it hasn’t been announced yet is that the anime lacks support from the fans and doesn’t have enough profit from the show. In fact, the international streaming profit, Funimation, has removed the series from its platform after the third episode was released. Also, Amazon Prime Video has already removed the anime from its service on February 6, 2020. However, there are small markets in Australia and Taiwan that continue to simulcast the anime series.
It appears that in order for the studio to make a season renewal, the only thing that we can do is to support them by buying the anime Blue-rays. And if the blue-rays sold well in Japan, we might still have a chance to see Interspecies Reviewers Season 2.
The anime series compared to the manga
The first season of the anime series Interspecies Reviewers has adapted the first three volumes of the manga series. Currently, the ongoing manga has about 6 volumes in total. With that being said, we will have to wait a little longer until the source has more materials for a season renewal so that it will leave the studio some space in adapting the rest of the chapters.
