Netflix will come with another animated TV series. It is said that The Cuphead Show will be coming soon!
Debuted for the first time in 2017 on the Xbox 1, Cuphead is stealing the heart and attention from fans for its great animation in the game. In the video game, Cuphead and his brother Mugman are fighting many kind of bosses to repay a deal with the devil.
After the success of the video game, Netflix then decided to make it as a TV show. It will be a collaboration between Netflix, StudioMDHR (the studio of the video game), and King Features Syndicate.
After Castlevania and Arcane, Netflix now is moving on with The Cuphead Show, showing how Netflix is getting more interested in making TV show based on video games.
The Cuphead Show was announced back in 2020 and will portray the characters in the Inkwell Island world.
So when The Cuphead Show will be released? What will it be about and who are the cast? Here is what we know so far about the upcoming TV show.
When Will We See The Cuphead Show?
Netflix has released the official teaser for The Cuphead Show. Unfortunately, there is no release date stated on the teaser, and just saying that it will be coming soon. However, it can be predicted that we will see the animated comedy TV series in 2022 at the earliest.
The rubber hose animation will consist of 10 episodes. Let’s hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will not delay the production, so that the schedule can be met accordingly. If everything runs smoothly, hopefully we can see this animation that is influenced by video game next year.
The Cuphead Show: What Is It About?
When The Cuphead Show was announced back in 2020 at the Annecy Animation Festival, it was revealed that the show will be a prequel to the video game. The director Cosmo Segurson even said that all the bosses in the video game will be involved in the show as well.
So pretty much The Cuphead Show will show us more about the relationship between the two brothers Cuphead and Mugman as well as their backstory.
According to Deadline, in the upcoming TV series, we can see the characters of Cuphead and Mugman that are portrayed as more active and impulsive for Cuphead, and more cautious but easily swayed for Mugman.
Mainly, the characters and the story will not be much different from it is in the video game. In the Inkwell Island, Cuphead and Mugman will wander through the Devil’s Casino and start playing around. After winning streak in the game, the Devil himself gets his attention to them, and so he offers them a deal: win one more roll and they can get all the money in the casino. However, if they are failed, the Devil will take away their souls.
Obviously, both of the brothers are failed. They then are assigned to collect the soul contracts, the debtors who run away from the Devil. If they succeed, the Devil might spare them their souls.

The Cuphead Show: The Cast
Just like the release date and the plot that haven’t been much revealed, we do not know much about the cast either. However, we can see from the teaser trailer above that there will be Wayne Brady as King Dice, the Devil’s right-hand man.
Although IMDB has the list of the cast for The Cuphead Show on its page, Wayne Brady is the only actor that has been confirmed by Deadline.
The cast who are listed by IMDB include Grey DeLisle-Griffin as Ms. Chalice, Tru Valentino as Cuphead, and Frank Todaro as Mugman.
