As an adaptation of an Israeli TV series called Charlie Golf One, ’68 Whiskey’ tells how a crew navigates a strange land while relying on their mutual friendship, different tools, and sometimes, the will to survive at all costs. Season 1 follows the team as Roback convinces Davis to partner with him in a get-rich-quick plan which fails miserably. After various accidents, the members realize that the solution to all their problems is one thing — cash. Of course, earning so much money is not an easy task, But the gang manages to do it somehow. However, matters spiral out of control when the cash goes missing and the group must enter Taliban territory to retrieve it.
68 Whiskey follows a group of male and female Army medics in Afghanistan who are stationed at a base called The Orphanage. This comedy-drama series features an epic cast, including Raw’s Sam Keeley as Cooper Roback and Teen Wolf’s Gage Golightly as Grace Durkin.
Jeremy Tardy of The Honorable White Man takes the role of Staff Sergeant Mekhi Davis with Derek Theler of The Middle as Sasquatch. Beth Riesgraf of Leverage also stars in the series as Major Sonia Holloway. Other cast members include Cristina Rodlo, Lamont Thompson, Nicholas Coombe and Derek Theler.
Israeli series creator Zion Rubin is the executive producer alongside Euphrates Shmaya Dror and Danna Stern.
68 Whiskey Season 2: Will It Release?
Considering the not-so-impressive start, Paramount decided to discontinue the series. In September 2020, the network announced that ’68 Whiskey’ season 2 has officially been cancelled. In addition to mediocre ratings, sources state that rising costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, filming in Los Angeles, and the number of background actors in some scenes were factors that contributed to the cancellation.
Unfortunately, the show won’t be coming for a second season. On September 2, 2020, Paramount announced that the second season for 68 Whiskey would not be renewed. The news has shocked the audience. Paramount also failed to provide a reason for canceling the show. Reports say that the show experienced a drop in ratings after the first season. The cancellation of 68 Whiskey made Yellowstone the only Paramount original. Previously, Paramount held the rights to Emily In Paris but has recently moved it to Netflix.
