What will you do if you find a novel and the story is based on your life? That is pretty much what happens in the new upcoming TV show, Disclaimer.
Adapted from a novel with the same title by Renée Knight, this upcoming TV series will be aired on Apple TV+. The streaming network is becoming more and more interesting since it keeps updated itself with fresh, new, exciting TV shows, from See to Defending Jacob. Now they come up with a new TV series, Disclaimer.
Deadline reported that Alfonso Cuarón—a filmmaker who has won Oscar and best known for his works such as Gravity, Children of Men, and Roma—created this TV show. Technically, Alfonso will write, direct, and executively produce the show.
Based on a novel, this show will basically tell us the story of a woman who finds out that the novel that she has been reading is the true story of her deepest darkest secrets in her life. So she has to reveal, who writes the story and who sends her the book?
Featuring Cate Blanchett as its main role, this TV series will be full of mystery, thriller, and suspense. So when will we see Disclaimer? How the plot is going to be and who are the cast? Here is everything we know so far about Disclaimer.
Disclaimer: Release Date
Disclaimer was just currently announced, so unfortunately we haven’t had any official information regarding the release date. The shooting process will still be underway and the production will still be under development. And considering the uncertain situation nowadays, we cannot really predict the release date. Looking back at Alfonso Cuarón’s record which took a long time in directing, we can expect to see Disclaimer in a quite far future.
Not to mention that the schedule conflict of the cast, since Cate Blanchett herself has another big project at the moment. With all of these situations, we can predict to see Disclaimer at the earliest in 2023. Or if the production process takes a longer time, we may even see Disclaimer in 2024.
Anyway, that is only a prediction. It can be out earlier or even much later, depending on how the process goes. But one thing that we know fpr sure is that it will not be out in anytime soon.
What is Disclaimer About?
In the press release, Apple TV+ stated that Disclaimer will be about shocking revelations and secrets that have been buried for a long time. There is not much that we can know about the story, since there is not much hint regarding the TV series. But since it is adapted from a book with the same title, we can guess that the story will be pretty much the same.
This will follow the story of a journalist named Catherine Ravenscroft who enjoys her holiday in a seaside town in Spain with her young son. Until one day, a mysterious novel appears on her bedside. The novel is titled ‘The Perfect Stranger’.
The book at first attracts her attention with the dark, interesting story. Until at some point, she realizes that the story is similar—or even the exact same—with the story of her life, about her darkest secrets that she wants to bring to her grave.
The secrets include the death of someone, the worst day of her life. She has been trying to get away with it. But since it comes again in her life, there is no other choice for her than to confront it.
Disclaimer: The Cast
There hasn’t been much information regarding who will play in Disclaimer. However, the network has revealed some of the main roles, which will make fans feel thrilled.
That includes the main roles such as Cate Blanchett (who also appears in Thor: Ragnarok) as Catherine Ravenscroft and Kevin Kline as the writer. And that’s the only cast that have been announced so far.
