Helstrom Season 2 is expected to be quite dark and intense and there will be no attempts to cover it up with inappropriate humor and anticlimactic dialogue which will make it a very intriguing watch. Helstrom is one of the most unique Marvel shows to grace the Hulu platform and the Marvel universe in general. Helstrom currently holds a rating of 6.8 out of 10 on IMDb. It’s unlike any other show from Marvel and it carries a vibe that remains unmatched. Instead of the usual Marvel affair, where superhero powers and theatrics are the star of the show, Helstrom puts forward a completely different side of the comic book studio.
The hour-long supernatural series from Marvel Television and ABC (Big Sky) Studios is based on the Marvel comic of the same name and centers around the siblings Daimon and Ana, two members of an estranged family that has seen their share of demons — both emotional and literal. All 10 episodes were released on October 16.
Helstrom’s debut season came two years ago and was largely well-received by audiences on Hulu. But, since then, we have yet to see another episode of the show. So, what happened to Helstrom Season 2?
Helstrom Season 2: What’s the Show About?
Helstrom is a show that takes place in the Marvel Universe (surely, many of you readers here are Marvel fans). The show is about the two siblings Daimon and Ana Helstrom, who comes from the famous Helstrom family (and hence the name of the show). They were born to someone who was both evil and genius. The children, their father being a serial killer, were born with abilities far beyond humans. What doesn’t help is the fact that their mother was possessed by a demon, giving rise to other demons alike. The show begins and we see the siblings reunited with their families, accepting the fact that there is more to it than meets the eye.
Helstrom’s debut season was met with a generally mixed response from the fans as well as the critics but still managed to be one of the better shows on Hulu at the time. The first season ended on a pretty big cliffhanger. While Helstrom has largely reassembled, there are still loose ends that needs tying up. The fates of Gabriella and Chris are still unknown and were left to unfold in the second season of the show. But the main cliffhanger comes in the form of a character played by Mitch Pileggi. Rumored to be the father of Ana and Daimon, his identity was not revealed, and the show left him for Helstrom Season 2 as well.
Helstrom Season 2: Cancelled or Renewed?
Now, given the fact that Season 1 was left untouched, it makes perfect sense for Hulu to use all that potential. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The studio that was behind Helstrom was shut down and disbanded. Since then, Hulu has announced that Helstrom Season 2 has been cancelled. This news is quite surprising to fans considering the short run of the series. However, Helstrom wasn’t the only show canceled this way. Sadly, Marvel later canceled many of its shows with the same manner.
Helstrom received somewhat negative reviews as critics found the characters and story bland but praised the visuals of the series. if you are a Helstrom fan this is bad news, because season 2 will never see the light of day on Disney plus. However, don’t be too disappointed because new content from Marvel is definitely coming soon!
Helstrom Season 2: Outlook
With Marvel canceling other shows in development, I think it’s time we hope for the ease of transition to Disney+. All of this is just a burden that Marvel thinks they need to get rid of. That’s how they work, and no shows guarantees updates. In the meantime, you can watch the show’s first and only season and enjoy it.
