When are we going to see Tsugumomo Season 3?
Tsugumomo, one of the many anime that combines the action, comedy, supernatural and ecchi genres into a fine piece. Although Tsugumomo is considered a generic anime, it offers the audience a unique concept, as the story is based on Japanese folklore called Tsukumogami, an object that has gained a soul, becoming alive and self-aware.
The anime series Tsugumomo is adapted from an ongoing manga of the same name written and illustrated by Yoshikadu Hamada. The manga was first published in Futabasha’s Comic Seed! web magazine in 2007, and moved to Web Comic High! magazine a year later after its first issue. As of March 25, 2013, the manga series switched to the publisher’s new Monthly Action magazine.
The first and the second volume of the manga series Tsugomomo was made in English and was launched on the digital manga publishing website JManga on August 17, 2011, and March 22, 2012, respectively. Those two volumes were the only ones published before the company shut down in May 2013.
The anime adaptation was made by Zero-G, the studio best known for its anime release Grand Blue, which is considered one of the best comedy anime on the page.
When will Tsugumomo Season 3 be released?
The first season of Tsugumomo was premiered on April 2, 2017, before concluding with 12 episodes on June 18 of the same year. It was followed by the release of a single OVA episode on January 22, 2020, and a second season by the name of Tsugu Tsugumomo from April 5, 2020, to June 21 of the same year with a total of 12 episodes. As the second season has left off with a cliffhanger, many of the fans are eager to see the continuation of it. So, will there be Tsugumomo Season 3 to satisfy the fans?
As of now, we haven’t received any words from the studio nor the author regarding the release date of Tsugumomo Season 3. However, we might get them sometime in the future. The source material is sufficient enough for another run, as the anime series has adapted up to the 71st chapter of the source, while the manga itself is currently sitting at the 139th chapter.
Also, at this point, they can do a crowdfund for the production of Tsugumomo Season 3, just like what they did for the OVA and the second episode. In fact, the studio has received around 7,989,500 yen from the crowdfund, which is 266% of their original goal of 3 million yen. Another example of anime series that goes through crowdfunding is Spirit Chronicles.
It is possible that they are currently working on a second OVA episode of Tsugumomo while they are waiting for new chapters to come out so that it will create more space for the studio to adapt more of it. That said, it will probably be at least 2-3 years before another season.
