Kamisama Kiss is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Julietta Suzuki and serialized by Hakusensha in the shōjo manga magazine Hana to Yume. At the time of its debut in 2012, Kamisama Hajimemashita was a hit with fans and critics alike. The anime soon returned with a second season in 2015. However, this is the last time we’ve heard of the series. Therefore, it is finally time to ask some serious questions. Will there be a Kamisama Kiss Season 3? Here’s everything you need to know.

Will there be Kamisama Kiss Season 3?
Kamisama Kiss is originally a manga series in 2008. A few years later, TMS Entertainment (Spirit Chronicles, Dr. Stone, ReLIFE, Kamisama Kiss, Rent-A-Girlfriend, Megalo Box and Rent-a-Girlfriend) decided to produce animated adaptations of the famous romantic manga. Thus, a 13-episode anime season debuted on screens in 2012, after the second episode in 2015. Despite its popularity, the animation studio did not produce Kamisama Kiss Season 3.
One of the main reasons for the delay must be the end of the manga series. Kamisama Hajimemashita concluded in 2016 with his twenty-fifth volume of the manga. Therefore, after that, there is no more source material to promote the anime. Most of the anime adaptations were produced in order to increase sales of his manga series or light novel. That said, Kamisama Kiss Season 3 is not renewed as it has no original content to promote.
However, according to history, several animated shows have survived a lack of promotion of the source material. Given the high demand and buzz it has created, the anime could have another chance on the screens. So, fans don’t need to lose all hopes just yet as it has happened multiple times that anime shows are renewed after multiple years.
On the other hand, fans worried about the 6-year break should also be relieved. Unlike American television series, animated series can take some time to return to the screens. Is There Material For Kamisama Kiss Season 3?
The Kamisama Kiss manga series consists of 25 volumes in total. The first two seasons and four OVA episodes of the anime cover the first seventeen volumes of the manga. Therefore, the new anime episode still has about eight volumes to adapt. This amount of source material can create more than 20 new episodes of the animated show.
However, it is important to note that the last episode of OVA has completed the entire plot of the series. Despite having more source material for the adaptation, TMS Entertainment (Dr. STONE Season 3, Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 2 & Baki Season 4) gave the anime a satisfying ending. Still, according to the story, the studio still has room to expand the plot to create Kamisama Kiss Season 3.
Kamisama Hajimemashita Season 3: What will happen next?
The story of the popular anime revolves around a high school student Nanami Momozono. Due to her father’s constant play, Nanami is in debt and thrown out of her apartment. Fortunately, because of his good deed, the earthly deity of a sanctuary, Mikage gives him his house to live on. The main character is then named earthly deity and meets Tomoe, familiar with Mikage, who is a yokai. A relationship between a human and a fox demon is taboo, but Nanami and Tomoe begin to fall in love.
At the end of the last OVA episode, Nanami and Tomoe finally get married. On the other hand, Akura Ou is still in Kirihito’s body. Kamisama Kiss Season 3 could revolve around the main couple and the issues they face after their wedding. Other villains may appear and Nanami may fall into dangerous circumstances. In addition, the story can become much more complicated with the appearance of Nanami’s father. He is still in debt and could wreak havoc on his yokai son-in-law.
Kamisama Season 3 Release Date
As mentioned above, TMS Entertainment can resume the productions of Kamisama Hajimemashita Season 3. The series may take some time to complete the production process. Even if work starts this year, the anime might not arrive until 2022 or 2023. For the time being, no official confirmation has been made. Kamisama Kiss Characters
Tomoe: is a fox yokai, presently serving as the familiar of Nanami Momozono in the manga series Kamisama Kiss. In Chapter One of the Manga (First Episode of the Anime), Tomoe has been abandoned by his former master, Mikage, and left to care for the land god’s crumbling shrine alone for the last twenty years.
When a powerless young girl named Nanami turns up on the shrine’s doorstep bearing the wayward god’s mark, Tomoe is furious. He refuses to become her familiar and vanishes, deciding instead to give himself over to a life of sloth, drink, and debauchery. However, in the world “over yonder” things rarely go to plan, and through desperation and cleverness. Tomoe slowly starts to fall in love with Nanami and he always wants her to hold his hand and walk everywhere with him and talk to each other.
Nanami Momozono: is the main protagonist of the Kamisama Kiss series. She is the human land god of Mikage Shrine, the daughter of Mr. Momozono and Kumimi Momozono, also she is one of the descendants of Yukiji and Hiiragi.
Mizuki: is one of the supporting characters Kamisama Kiss series. He is a white snake shikigami and the second familiar of Nanami Momozono.
Yukiji: was the former lover from Tomoe’s forgotten past whose village was destroyed in a yokai attack by Akura-ou and his comrade Tomoe, leaving her the only survivor. Though in chapter 18, Akura-ou stated that a lot of them managed to escape, as he was looking for Yukiji he figured that she might have escaped with them. Nanami Momozono’s spirit was taken to the past using Mizuki’s time-traveling Incense Burner and into Yukiji’s body. It was during that time that Nanami (as Yukiji) met Tomoe of the past.
