Bosch season 8? a spin-off? What does the sequel to the Amazon Prime series have in store for us?
Bosch detective series first aired in February 2014 on Amazon Prime Video, Bosch revolves around Harry Bosch, an inspector in the LAPD’s criminal squad, who investigates different cases each season. Developed for the screen by Eric Ellis Overmyer, the detective series is inspired by the novels of Michael Connelly, who is also the creator of the series.
With the seventh season now available on the Amazon (“Carnival Row Season 2, Good Omens Season 2“) streaming platform, you probably want to know if Bosch Season 8 is coming. This flagship series is the oldest Amazon (Electric Dreams) original series on the streaming platform and is appreciated by the public for the mystery, grainy atmosphere, and quality of its actors. Urban Fusions tells you all about the rest of Harry Bosch’s adventures.
After seven seasons of following Harry Bosch, Amazon’s series is coming to an end. Season 7 of Bosch will be the last in the series, but it’s not the end of the story for the character. The good news is that fans have not finished hearing about Harry Bosch and other stories are in the works.
In Season 7 of Bosch, Harry is deeply affected by the death of 10-year-old Sonia Hernandez in arson. Over the course of this final season, he becomes increasingly frustrated with red tape and the rules of bureaucracy, a recurring theme throughout the seven seasons of amazon’s series. This theme will play a role in shaping harry bosch’s future, as an important chapter ends in the season 7 finale of Bosch. And this is where the Bosch spin-off, produced by IMDb TV, should pick up the story.
Will there be a Bosch Season 8?
As you were told above, Bosch has not been renewed for a season 8, but the currently untitled spin-off will continue the story of Harry Bosch.
The series will be an IMDb ORIGINAL TV and the first series spin-off for Amazon Studios. Although it is technically a spin-off, star Titus Welliver confirmed, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, that the new Bosch series will actually be a continuation of the story of Harry Bosch as told in the Amazon Original series.
Given that the spin-off will be made in partnership with Amazon Studios and that the creative team will be the same as that of the original series – including creators Michael Connelly and Eric Overmyer, who will ensure the executive producer of the series with Tom Bernardo, Henrick Bastin and Titus Welliver – we can say that Harry Bosch will be in good hands.
Bosch Season 8 Cast: Who will be in it?
The Bosch spin-off series from the Amazon Prime series will feature Titus Welliver as Inspector Harry Bosch, Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch, and Mimi Rogers as Honey Chandler. Other characters from Amazon’s long-running detective series are also expected in the IMDb TV Original series in both primary and secondary roles, as the series continues to adapt the plots of Michael Connelly’s best ponder novels.
History of Bosch Season 8: which books could adapt the sequel?
The new IMDb TV series will continue to follow Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) as he embarks on the next chapter of his career, which will see him work alongside Honey “Money” Chandler (Mimi Rogers). While Bosch Season 7 is largely adapted from Michael Connelly’s 2014 novel Mariachi Plaza (The Burning Room), some elements of the plot of the final season also come from The Concrete Blonde, a novel written 20 years earlier, in 1992.
Given the fact that the series has made leaps forward over the past seven seasons, most of the books in Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series are still relevant. But as the plot of the series advances at the same time as the novels, the spin-off will probably draw inspiration from the most recently published books in the series. These include 2015’s The Crossing, 2016’s The Wrong Side of Goodbye, 2017’s Two Kinds of Truth, 2018’s Dark Sacred Night, 2019’s The Night Fire, and The Dark Hours (2021).
It is important to note that several of these later novels also feature Bosch’s half-brother Mickey Haller, a character who will be the main protagonist of Connelly’s other new series, The Lincoln Lawyer. It will be interesting to see how the two plots intersect in these new parallel TV series.
Bosch Season 8 Release Date
The Bosch spin-off will be produced by Bastin’s new company, Fabel Entertainment. Although no release date has been announced for Bosch Season 8, filming for the new series is expected to begin later this year. Fans of the series can therefore expect to see more of Bosch soon after the season 7 finale.
