Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki is one of the many romance shows that has a somewhat unique trait. It also combines with the drama genre as it revolves around a school theme. Just as the title suggests, Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki follows the story of Fumiya Tomozaki, a gamer guy who considers himself as a bottom-tier character in the real-life world that he calls ‘game’. After a chain of events including unexpected encounters, Tomozaki commits to change his way of life with the help of his classmate, Aoi Hinami. However, his dedication in doing so has to come with a lot of struggles.
Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki began life as a Japanese light novel series entitled Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun written by Yuuki Yaku with illustrations by Fly. It has been published by Shogakukan under their Gagaga Bunko imprint since May 18, 2016. As of January 18, 2022, ten volumes have been published. The light novel series has also been published in English by Yen Press since July 30, 2019.
Despite being the one and only project that Yuuki Yaku has ever created up to this point, the light novel series of Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki has achieved great success in the industry, as it has won the 10th Shogakukan Light Novel Grand Prize. Not only that, but it also placed eighth in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! ranking in the best light novel category in 2017.
Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki Season 2 Renewal Status
An anime adaptation of the successful Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki light novel series was first announced on October 11, 2019. The adaptation was animated by Project No.9, the studio that is best known for its anime releases such as And you thought there is never a girl online and Higehiro.
The anime series Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki premiered on Jan 8, 2021, and ran for twelve episodes before concluding on March 26 of the same year. It was followed by two-episode specials that were released on May 7 and June 2, respectively.
After the first season has ended, many of the fans are craving a sequel to see the continuation of the story. So, what is the renewal status of Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki Season 2?
On January 14, 2022, the official website of the television anime series of Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki has announced that a new anime project is currently in production. It was announced along with a pictured visual and an announcement video. However, it was not clear whether the new project will be in the form of a movie or a second season.

Sadly, the announcement of the new project didn’t include the release date of Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki Season 2, so it remains unclear at this point. Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki has a manga series!

Not only that but there is also a spin-off manga series illustrated by Bana Yoshida, entitled Minami Nanami Wants to Shine. It began in Shogakukan’s Manga One app and Monthly Sunday Gene-X magazine on July 18, 2020. The spin-off mainly focuses on the character of Minami Nanami. Just as the main manga series, the spin-off is also available for you to read in English as it has been licensed by Yen Press for English releases.
