The animated adaptation of Konami’s namesake and popular Japanese video game series, Castlevania is something that a lot of people did not expect so it’s not surprising that a lot of people are asking for Castlevania Season 5.
The horror dark fantasy animated show developed in the style of anime but with western characterization and story telling. The story revolves around generational vampire hunter Trevor Belmont, speaker magician Sypha Belnades, and half-vampire Adrian “Alucard” Tepes as they fight to protect the people of Wallachia from the forces of the legendary Dracula.
Ever since it’s debut in Netflix on July 7, 2017 it has since become one of the most critically acclaimed, popular, and influential animated shows on Netflix and paved the way for other video game adaptation animation. Will there be Castlevania Season 5?
Unfortunately Castlevania ended on Season 4, so we might not see Castlevania Season 5 but the good news is that the show producers and Netflix and interested to develop more anime sets in the world of Castlevania, considering Castlevania covers a long timeline of Belmont family.
On May 11, 2021, Netflix representatives reportedly told that the next series would have “a new cast of characters.” They also apparently made it clear that it would not be a spin-off show. Furthermore, Shankar has previously hinted that he wants to establish a larger narrative focused on the several generations of vampire-hunting Belmont family.
Unfortunately, any plans to develop the show universe might be hindered by the fact that showrunner and creator Warren Ellis faced allegations of sexual coercion and manipulation from multiple women.
Even considering Castlevania.s popularity, Netflix is more likely to replace Warren Ellis with someone else and they are still looking for replacement to develop the yet-to-be-named next entry in the Castlevania universe. If that happens, we expect this new Castlevania animated web series, or simply Castlevania Season 5 in 2022.
What’s the story for Castlevania Season 5?
Castlevania Season 4 ends with Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard finding the peace and happiness they have sought. Trevor and Sypha are going to have a child together continuing the Belmont family line. Meanwhile Alucard and Greta decide that they and the survivors will build a new village under the shadow of Dracula’s castle.
After realizing that Carmilla has died, Morana and Striga decide simply to walk away from death and destruction together. Hector decides to write a book about vampires, while Isaac resolves to make the world a better place with his night creature army. Meanwhile, Dracula and Lisa, who have returned from death, decide to move to England and lead a quiet life.
Even though the story seems to reach an end, the show can always use Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to develop further Alucard’s conflict and story further. As Shankar hinted, the next project can also focus on other members of the Belmont family, including Christopher or Simon Belmont. Dracula will likely make an appearance in this project and inevitably meet his son again.
We might also see vampire culture outside of Europe being expanded even further as the show explore the world of Castlevania and what happens after the failed global vampire invasion in Castlevania Season 4.
Who will be in Castlevania Season 5?
Castlevania is known to have excellent English and Japanese voice actors, although as an American show that obviously means that the meant to enhjoy the show is in English.
We might see Richard Armitage who voiced Trevor Belmont to return in limited capacity but other cast such as James Callis as Adrian “Alucard” Tepes, Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha Belnades, Graham McTavish as Vlad Dracula Tepes, Marsha Thomason as Greta, Theo James as Hector, Adetokumboh M’Cormack as Isaac, Jaime Murray as Carmilla, Emily Swallow as Lisa Tepes, Jessica Brown Findlay as Lenore, Bill Nighy as Saint Germain, Yasmine Al Massri as Morana, Ivana Milicevic as Striga, Malcolm McDowell as Varney, Toks Olagundoye as Zamfir, and Titus Welliver as Ratko.
