Looking forward to Hotel Del Luna Season 2? Hotel Del Luna was one of the finest fantasy dramas produced by the Hong sisters under the direction of Oh Choong Hwan from the Dragon studios. The sixteen-episode drama aired on tvN and ended with the highest viewership rating on the last episode, which resulted in it being a part of the Netflix Korean drama series. Hotel Del Luna was showcased on tvN from 13 July 2019, until 1 September 2019, which brings 16 episodes that last up to 73-94 minutes. Recap of Hotel Del Luna Season 1:
The drama shows the protagonists Jang man wool played by Lee Jieun (IU) and Gu Chanung by Yeo Jingoo. Jang man wool has been the moody owner of the hotel for 1,300 years. Initially sentenced to be the owner of the hotel in order to atone for the deaths of several people, her character gradually softens after meeting Gu Chan-sung. Gu Chan-sung has been appointed as the new general manager of Hotel Del Luna. He is a Harvard MBA graduate who has been hired as an associate director at one of Korea’s top hotels. Because of an agreement his father made with Jang Man-wol 21 years ago, Chan-sung is compelled to be the general manager of Hotel Del Luna. Hotel Del Luna is unlike any other hotel and is run by supernatural souls who are working in the hotel as they cannot cross the afterlife due to unfinished business on the earth. Lee Jieun and Gu Chanung cross a lot of hurdles to solve the hotel’s financial crisis and gradually lean on each other even when the odds are against them. However, the ending is a happy one as they are united with each other after a timeline jump.
Hotel Del Luna Season 2: Plot
Many rumours are flying around regarding the plot of Hotel Del Luna Season 2 as the previous season’s last episode ended with Kim Soo Hyun taking over the ownership of the Hotel. The viewers were also confused if the drama ended on an open interpretation or sad ending as the drama had jumped through a timeline to unite the leads, yet some weren’t sure if the timelines had united or were Jang man wool sequence was a dream. The ultimate ending was to send away Jang man wool to the afterlife and conclude the season with a peaceful ending, even though the leads could never get back together, yet viewers hope for Hotel Del Luna Season 2 as the Hotel being managed now by Kim Soo Hyun is renamed as Hotel Blue Moon. Season 1 had a female owner, Season 2 could start off with the male owner, and the hotel could be a place for other restless ghosts to reside.
Release Date for Season 2
There has been no official announcement from Dragon Studios regarding season 2 of Hotel Del Luna. Most K-dramas (Itaewon Class & Vincenzo) wrap up their stories by one season, but the audiences feel that Hotel Del Luna deserves a Season 2 or a spin-off at the least due to the ending of the season, and also the entry of Kim Soo Hyun. The ending did not specify if Jang Man wool was alive in the human world, and it was a bittersweet ending. Since the pandemic has taken over, there hasn’t been any confirmation regarding the availability of the actors. However, Dragon Studios are in talks with SkyDance Media with respect to the American remake of the same, so we can all be hopeful about enjoying the drama through a global lens, and if that’s a sensation, a season two would definitely be on the table.
