On the website of the anime adaptation of “Knights of Sidonia” (Japanese: “Sidonia no Kishi”) it was announced today that the new anime film will be released in Japanese cinemas on May 14, 2021. In addition, a first trailer has been released, which you can find later in the article.
Knights Of Sidonia New Movie with Original Story
The film is directed by Tadahiro Yoshihira at Polygon Pictures. Hiroyuki Seshita, who co-directed the series, serves as Chief Director. Sadayuki Murai and Tetsuya Yamada rewrite the screenplay, while Shoji Katayama composes the music and Mitsunori Kataama is involved as Art Director.
“Knights of Sidonia: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi” is not intended to adapt the manga of Tsutomu Nihei, but to tell a completely new story, which is supervised by Nihei as supervisor. The speakers from the series will be heard again in their well-known roles.
The anime series “Knights of Sidonia” currently consists of two seasons, which were broadcast in Japan in 2014 and 2015. The first season was directed by Koubun Shizuno at Polygon Pictures. In the second season Hiroyuki Seshita took over this position.
Netflix (Mindhunter Season 3) released both seasons in the original tone with English subtitles on demand but has since taken them out of the program.
