The story is set in two parallel worlds, the eternal monarch series follows Emperor Lee Gon of the Kingdom of Corea, who discovers access to associate with an alternate reality once crossing a legendary door opened by his half-uncle, Lee Lim, where the Republic of Korea exists within the Kingdom’ role and sets his intention on put an end to Lee Lim’ atrocities and retrieve the opposite half Manpasikjeok used as a portal between two worlds. He runs into a feisty detective on the other side of the world and is connected with her on a past life basis as her occupation deals with his life back in the kingdom. Stuck in between two worlds, trying to sever the connection, and not killed by his past self, The King: Eternal Monarch is an interesting twist to a romantic tale.

The last time we checked, the status was pending regarding the update on the renewal status for The King: Eternal Monarch Season 2 . However, since this k drama is stated to be Netflix (To The Lake) Original, we can expect updates and hikes from the Netflix team, but this isn’t originally produced by them, therefore their say doesn’t add up to it. Studio Dragon (Hotel Del Luna) and Hwa & Dam Pictures and the distributor SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System), are the ultimate production houses of Korean dramas in South Korea, it is up to them to approve for the renewal of season 2 of Eternal Monarch.

The cast gave away some mind-blowing performances throughout the drama which has sufficed the drama to get through even though the critics were rather censorious regarding the plot and structure of the drama. The drama ran into many controversies as they pushed certain unwanted gender stereotypes which upset the drama society. The King Eternal Monarch Season 1 ended on a happy note where Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul end happily together, shown through transitions of old age and more . This could be a reason to not end up with season 2 of The King: Eternal Monarch. Some fans have been way too dedicated to renewing the season and petitions have been signed on many platforms for the season to go on air again.
