The official website for the upcoming Lupin III: Part 6 anime series has revealed that the TV anime will air from October 2021. The series will commemorate the original anime’s 50th anniversary and the website revealed the first trailer and a new visual.
Franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary
The anime, which is being created for the 50th anniversary of the “LUPIN THE 3rd” franchise, is being produced by TMS Entertainment (“Kamisama Kiss“) under the direction of Eiji Suganuma (“Ninja Mono”, “Sasameki Koto”). Takahiro Ohkura (“Detective Conan: The Purple Love Letter”) takes over the series composition, while Hiroki Marufuji contributes the character design and Yuji Ohno composes the music.
A first teaser as well as a key visual, which was drawn by character designer Marufuji and shows Lupin together with the slogan “Lupin, Villain or Hero?”, you can watch below. The first part of the new anime is under the motto “Mystery” and brings Lupin and the gang into modern times. Further details, such as the number of episodes, are still pending.
The first series, “LUPIN THE 3rd PART 1”, made its anime debut in 1971. The story follows the adventures of the world’s best thief Lupin III, who is the grandson of the famous French master thief Arsène Lupin. The franchise of series creator Monkey Punch has already produced six television series, more than ten feature films and 27 feature-length TV specials.

On the official website of LUPIN THE 3rd PART 6 it was announced today that the series will be broadcast on Japanese television from October 9, 2021. In addition to the date, a visual has also been published, which you can watch further down in the article.

Due to his infamy, Lupin III attracts the attention of the persistent Inspector Zenigata of the ICPO, as well as rival criminals. Lupin III’s criminal lifestyle even seeps into his love life. The main woman in Lupin III’s world is femme fatale Fujiko Mine, who Lupin III can never tell is working with or against him. Follow Lupin and his gunman partner Daisuke Jigen on their quest to own the world－or at least the valuable bits!
