Rise of The Guardians is an underrated American animated movie premiered in 2012. Now many people are wondering will they release Rise of The Guardians 2.
Produced by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Peter Ramsey, this movie is based on a short film titled ‘The Man in the Moon’ and also from a book series ‘Guardians of the Childhood’ by William Joyce.
This follows the story of a group of Guardians, where each of them has their own powers. However, despite the positive reviews and feedbacks, will there be Rise of The Guardians 2?
Rise of The Guardians Recap
Pitch Black is an evil villain who wants to spread fears among kids and destroy their childhood. He is doing that by make them stop believing in the Guardians.
Because of this, Santa Claus summons the Guardians, including Jack Frost, to go against Pitch Black.
Pitch Black attacks Tooth Fairy’s castle and steals the kid’s teeth which contain the kids’ memories about the Tooth Fairy. So the Guardians work together to collect the teeth, and in doing so, a kid named Jamie sees them.
Long story short, Pitch Black instead asks Jack Frost to join him, an offer which Jack refuses. Pitch Black is angry.
Jack Frost eventually also remembers how he tried to save his sister who trapped on the ice, but instead he fell and died, and so he became Jack Frost. That memories strengthen him to fight in a battle with Pitch Black.
Finally the Guardians win, the kids believe in the Guardians again, and not afraid of Pitch Black anymore. Instead, his nightmare haunts himself and attacks him.
At the end of the movie, we can see how Jack Frost vows to be a guardian to protect the kids, and they all go back to the North Pole.
Rise of The Guardians 2: Will It Happen?
So with that kind of ending, will there be Rise of The Guardians 2?
Well, most likely it will not continue. Although the first movie has gained praises, Rise of The Guardians only receive US$306 million while its budget is US$145 million. And because of the distribution costs as well as the marketing, this movie also loses around US$83 million.
So, due to the lack of profit, Rise of The Guardians 2 is very unlikely. That being said, Peter Ramsey once admitted that he’d love to continue with the sequel.
What Would the Story be?
Let’s imagine that there would be Rise of The Guardians 2? What would the story be? Idea Wiki has the answers.
Rise of The Guardians 2 can set several months after the first movie. This time around, they will focus on young Jamie to join the Guardians, to save the world and go against Pitch Black.
Pitch Black who returns, still wants to destroy children’s imaginations, and makes them forget about the Guardians.
In Rise of The Guardians 2, we can also see more of Pitch Black, like his background story or his past, as well as more role of Jamie—together with Jack Frost of course—to fight back Pitch Black forever and ever.
The Cast of Rise of The Guardians
Although the possibility of Rise of The Guardians 2 is bleak, we can’t forget how the first movie is full of famous actors/actresses.
That includes Chris Pine as Jack Frost, Alec Baldwin as Nicholas St. North, Isla Fisher as Tooth Fairy, Hugh Jackman as Easter Bunny, Jude Law as Pitch Black, and many more.
With these stars among their list of voice casts, there should have been Rise of The Guardians 2. But for now, we can just hope that they miraculously come up with an idea to continue with the sequel.
