The Japanese company Frontier Works announced today that an anime adaptation of the “Even A Worm Arc” arc of the manga series “Saiyuki” by Kazuya Minekura is in the works.
Manga has Already Received Several Adaptations
The anime implementation is supposed to be a TV series entitled “Saiyuki Reload: Zeroin”. The studio LIDEN FILMS (“Berserk, Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches”) is responsible for the production. Further details, such as a start date, are still pending.
Since 2000, “Saiyuki” has received numerous anime adaptations, including TV series with 50, 26, 25, and 12 episodes each, for which various studios were responsible. In addition, there are several movies and OVAs.
The original manga was written by Kazuya Minekura and started in 1997 with a nine-part front row. In 2002, a ten-volume sequel followed with Saiyuki Reload, and in 2009 with “Saiyuki Reload Blast” another sequel, which currently comprises three volumes.
The first manga was published by Carlsen-Verlag, while the films “Saiyuki Requiem” and “Saiyuki: Journey to the West” were published by Anime Virtual.
