The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 has been confirmed. For the second season, movie director Risako Yoshida returned to helm the project. Character designer Kana Ishida and music composer Taku Iwasaki also returned.
Adaptation of the Reminiscence arc of The Irregular at Magic High School (jap.: “Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei”) is in the works. Now new details and a first teaser have been revealed.
The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 Release date
The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc adapts the eighth volume of the original light novel by Tsutomu Satou and will be broadcast on Japanese television in the winter season 2022. Whether this is a series, is still unclear. Studio 8bit (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3), which already produced the second season, is responsible for the implementation.
It is directed by Risako Yoshida (Mahouka: The Girl Who Summons the Stars), who is supported by Jimmy Stone. Munemasa Nakamoto returns as screenwriter, while Kana Ishida returns to the original character design and serves as Chief Animation Director. The film stars Yuichi Nakamura as Tatsuya Shiba and Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba.
The anime adaptation of “The Irregular at Magic High School” so far consists of two seasons, which comprise 26 and 13 episodes and were broadcast in Japan in 2014 and 2020. In addition, there is a film from 2017 as well as an anime adaptation of the spin-off manga “The Honor at Magic High School”, which ran in the summer season 2021.

At the end of the 21st century, states around the world are vying to train their mages perfectly to maintain the balance of powers. Miyuki and her big brother Tatsuya are admitted to the famous First State Magic High School, where Miyuki is immediately elected as the representative of the new students. At the school there are the course 1 students, the so-called “Blooms”, who are the elite on the basis of their exam results, and the course 2 students, the “weeds”, which are considered a kind of reserve in case a “Bloom” leaves.
Tatsuya, despite her outstanding skills, does not manage to be admitted to the elite and has to assert herself as a course 2 student from now on. But suddenly the school is being targeted by the “Blanche” terrorists.
