Not only that there will be the reunion of Harry Potter, its spinoff also brings a good news. It is confirmed that Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore will be released next year.
Just like Harry Potter franchise as well as its two previous movies, Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore is also written by the legendary author J.K Rowling. It will be directed by David Yates as well. Meanwhile, it will be produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves, Lionel Wigram, and Tim Lewis, and executively produced by Neil Blair, Danny Cohen, Josh Berger, Courtenay Valenti, and Michael Sharp.
The first movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, was released back in 2016. The second installment, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, was released in 2018. Therefore, Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore will be the third movie of Fantastic Beasts franchise, and the 11th movie in the Wizarding World.
Full of fantasy, magic, and drama, Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore will follow the story of Albus Dumbledore who will ask Newt Scamander to defeat the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. This third installment is also expected to reveal another secrets of Dumbledore—just like the title.
So after four years after the second movie was released, when will we be able to see Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore?
Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore – Release Date
The main shooting process had started back in early 2020. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production was halted. The filming was started again in September 2020. That’s why, the release date was pushed back to July 15, 2022, given the recasting of Johnny Depp as well.
And it was quite surprising in September 2021 when Warner Bros announced that the release date of Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore will be brought back to April 7, 2022 instead of July.
This announcement instantly brought the Potterheads go even crazier and can’t wait to see it. The early of 2022 obviously will be a blessing for Potterheads since there will be not only Harry Potter reunion, but also Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore – The Story
The story of the third installment will pick up from where it left off in the second movie.
At the end of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, it is revealed that Credence Barebone is, in fact, Albus Dumbledore’s long lost brother named Aurelius Dumbledore.
Therefore, in Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore, it will answer everything. It can mean that Dumbledore has always known that he had a brother, or instead, he never knew it because his parents kept it as a secret. Or maybe, Aurelius is not actually Albus’ brother, and instead, it is just Grindelwald’s trick. Well, we will find it out—and possibly other secrets of Dumbledore as well.
In the synopsis from Warner Bros, it is revealed that Albus Dumbledore will entrust the Magizoologist Newt Scamander and his Muggle baker friend Jacob Kowalski to stop Gellert Grindelwald, since Dumbledore cannot beat him himself, considering the pact that both of them have made.
In the process of stopping Grindelwald, Newt and Jacob will have to deal with various new beasts as well as Grindelwald’s followers which is largely increased. However, as the battle is getting more intense, Albus Dumbledore apparently cannot just sit and watch. See the trailer below.
Who Will Appear in Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore?
It won’t be Fantastic Beasts without Eddie Redmayne. So in Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore, he will return as Newt Scamander. Given that the movie revolves around young Albus Dumbledore, we can expect to see a lot of Jude Law that will play as young Dumbledore.
Unfortunately, it was confirmed that Johnny Depp will not reprise his role as Gellert Grindelwald, given the scandal and domestic violence issues that revolve around him after Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It is such a shame that we will not see the brilliant acting from Johnny Depp, but we will see Mads Mikkelsen to take his place.
There will be other returning actors and actresses as well, such as Ezra Miller, Jessica Williams, Dan Fogler, Callum Turner, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, among others.
