Already at the end of July we were able to give you a teaser for the upcoming film project of the Free! – Present franchise. Now a first full-fledged trailer has been published on his official Twitter account, which you can watch further down in the article.
Free! Movie 5: Release Date
The two-part film project will be the last chapter of “Free!” series. The first film starts on September 17, 2021 in Japan and shows Haru making his way to Australia for the Sydney Games to prove his skills and compete with old rivals. The second film will be released in Japanese cinemas on April 22, 2022.
The Kyoto Animation studio, which was also responsible for the accompanying series, is once again responsible for the production of the films. The director is Eisaku Kawanami, who already held this position on “Free!: Dive to the Future”. Masahiro Yokotani writes the screenplay.
The new trailer was originally scheduled to be released last week, but had to be postponed as Tatsuhisa Suzuki, a member of the band OLDCODEX and voice actor for Makoto, is currently taking a break due to “physical and mental weakness”. Previously, the video was to be built around the theme song “Heading to Over” by OLDCODEX, which now had to be removed.
The “Free!” franchise so far includes three seasons as well as several films. The third season ran in the summer season 2018 on Japanese television and on Crunchyroll in a simulcast.
