Will there ever be Gakuen Babysitters Season 2? Will a sequel ever be released?
Gakuen Babysitters is one of the many shoujo anime series that falls under the comedy and slice of life genre. The show follows Hayato Kamitani, a high school boy who has to take care of her little brother, Kotarou Kashima after both of their parents got into a plane accident.
The anime series Gakuen Babysitters is adapted from a manga under the same title written and illustrated by Hari Tokeino. The manga series has been published by Hakusensha and serialized in LaLa’s magazine since September 24, 2009. As of 2021, there are twenty-one volumes that have been published.
Gakuen Babysitters Season 2 Renewal Status
The television anime series was first announced on March 21, 2017. The adaptation is animated by Brain’s Base, the studio best known for their popular anime releases such as Durarara!!, Oregairu, and My Little Monster. Directed by Shūsei Morishita, the anime series Gakuen Babysitters has successfully impressed many of the viewers due to its unique concept. It can be watched by everyone as Crunchyroll has streamed the series.
The anime series Gakuen Babysitters was premiered on January 7, 2018, and ran for twelve episodes before concluding on March 25 of the same year. It was followed by a sequel in the form of a special episode bundled with the 7th Blu-ray volume on September 26, 2018.
After the release of the special episode, many of the fans are eager to see a sequel. So, what is the renewal status of Gakuen Babysitters Season 2? When will it be released?
As of now, we haven’t received any words from the author or the studio regarding Gakuen Babysitters Season 2. We don’t know whether we will get a season renewal or not.
Will Gakuen Babysitters Season 2 be possible?
As there is no news or information regarding Gakuen Babysitters Season 2, many fans are wondering it will be possible or not.
In terms of source material, the studio has more than enough of them to make a season renewal. The first season has covered the first 34 out of 112 chapters of the manga series, although they have skipped a total of eleven chapters in the adaptation.
Not to mention, the adaptation is well received by many of the fans, and it has scored a decent 7.89 in MyAnimeList. This is surely looking good enough for the future of the anime series. However, in one of the forums about this topic, many of the users have stated that the sales of the series including DVD and BD were not good enough to guarantee Gakuen Babysitters Season 2.
In the end, it all comes down to the production committee, which is Brain’s Base. Their popular anime series Baccano never got a second season despite the number of demands, and Spice and Wolf also go through the same fate, as the third season has never been announced. However, their most popular series, Durarara!!, got a sequel although it was made by different studios.
That said, the chance of us having Gakuen Babysitters Season 2 is currently 50/50. If by any chance there is an announcement around the corner, it will take at least a year or two for Gakuen Babysitters Season 2 to be released.
