Seraph of the End is an action supernatural anime that tells the story about a world where vampires rule over the humans. There are two seasons of the anime and both were released in 2015. The animation for the 2 seasons were done by Wit Studio. The studio is well-known for their works in the first 3 seasons, OVAs and also movies of the Attack on Titan series. There was a special episode that aired between the 2 seasons, which serves as a summary of the first season, titled Seraph of the End: The Beginning of the End.
The series has 1 OVA, titled Owari no Seraph: Kyuuketsuki Shahar, which was released on May 2, 2016. Despite it being released the year after, the story was set before the events of the second season. Both seasons also have their own omake specials, which consists of altered scenes from the original anime that have been turned into short comedic skits to form punchlines. These specials are titled Seraph of the Endless.
The story of Seraph of the End is based on a manga with the same name, which is written by Takaya Kagami and illustrated by Yamato Yamamoto, whilst the storyboard is done by Daisuke Furuya. It began its publication in Shueisha’s Jump SQ in September, 2012 and is currently still ongoing.
Other than the manga, there are also 3 light novels based on the series which focuses on the story of the other main characters. The first one is Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose: Catastrophe at Sixteen, which was released in January, 2013. The second light novel is titled Seraph of the End: The Story of Vampire Mikaela and was released in December, 2015. The last light novel is Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose: Resurrection at Nineteen which was released in December, 2017.
Seraph of the End Season 3 Release Date
It has been almost 6 years since the last episode of season 2 aired, which ended in a cliff-hanger, and many have been wondering about the fate of Seraph of the End Season 3. The reason why we all have been waiting for so long is because of the source material. At the time of production, the first two seasons have pretty much covered all of the chapters that the author has released. Which was why the production stopped at the second season.
The great news is that the author has released more chapters since then. There are more than 40 new chapters, which means there are more than enough materials for Seraph of the End Season 3. Currently, Wit Studio has not made any confirmation regarding the status of Seraph of the End Season 3, therefore fans would just have to keep waiting for now.
The Plot of Seraph of the End
The story is set in 2012, where the world is hit by a mysterious virus which kills everyone above the age of 13. It was then when vampires began to emerge and start enslaving mankind, subjugating humanity by promising them that the vampires will protect humanity in exchange of their bloods.
Among these survivors are our main characters, Yuuichirou and Mikaela Hyakuya. Along with other kids from the same orphanage, they began to plot their escape, which failed miserably. In the end, Mikaela sacrificed himself so that Yuuichirou could escape. Yuuichirou was then saved by members of the Moon Demon Company, a military unit that is dedicated to exterminating vampires. Four years later, Yuuichirou is now a member of the Moon Demon company and is determined to get revenge on the vampires for killing his family members.
