The Honor at Magic High School, otherwise known as Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei, is a fantasy and sci-fi anime that has been aired in Summer 2021. The anime series is a spin-off of the parent anime The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei), which retells the parent story from the perspective of Miyuki Shiba, the younger sister of Shiba Tatsuya, and the other female characters.
Unlike the parent story, the first season of The Honor at Magic High School is produced by Connect, a studio that is a division of SILVER LINK. Both of the studios have been working alongside each other, which their collaboration can be seen on several anime titles such as Strike the Blood and Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody. SILVER LINK alone, is best known for Chivalry of a Failed Knight and Kokoro Connect. On the other hand, Connect barely produced anime alone, but despite that, one of the most popular series that they have worked on is ORESUKI Are you the only one who loves me?
The anime series is an adaptation of a manga under the same name written by Tsutomu Satou with Yu Mori being the illustrator. The manga was first published on April 27, 2012, and has been serialized monthly in Kadokawa/ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Daioh magazine since then. On November 17, 2015, the manga series can already be enjoyed from all over the world, as the English version of the manga has been released by Yen Press on that very date.
When will The Honor at Magic High School Season 2 be released?
The first season of The Honor at Magic High School was first aired on July 3, 2021, and has finally concluded with 13 episodes on September 25, 2021. It was also streamed with English subtitles that can be watched on Funimation and Netflix Japan. After the first season has ended, several fans are yearning for more of its actions. So, when will The Honor at Magic High School Season 2 be released?
As of now, we haven’t received any information from the author nor the studio regarding The Honor at Magic High School Season 2. However, there are some things that you might want to know regarding the topic.
Why is The Honor at Magic High School Season 2 not announced yet?
The reason why the second season has not been announced immediately after the first season came to an end mostly lies in the availability of the source material. As the first season of The Honor at Magic High School has already covered all of the chapters from the manga, the anime series doesn’t have enough source material to go for another run.
However, the good news is that there is a second season of the manga, which is currently sitting on the 9th volume. But, as the number of chapters is not sufficient enough for an anime adaptation, fans should expect a long wait.
One thing to take notes from which can lead to the anime series not being continued is that it has received a lot of negative reviews from the audience. Quoting from those reviews in MyAnimeList, the anime series does not live up to its predecessor whatsoever, as it’s seen as being incoherent to the parent story.
At the end of the day, fans should not expect too much on the release of The Honor at Magic High School Season 2, as its current whereabouts still remains a mystery. However, if the reviews are being ignored and the source material is already sufficient enough, then fans could expect a second season sometime in the future.
