The new adaptation from the classic movie starring David Bowie, The Man Who Fell to Earth will bring something new to the table.
The Man Who Fell to Earth is an upcoming American science fiction TV series that will be premiered on Showtime. It is also scheduled to be shown at SXSW in March 2022.
Developed by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, this upcoming TV series will be based on the novel which was released back in 1963 with the same title by Walter Tevis.
This science fiction, drama, mystery TV show will be executively produced by Rola Bauer, Carl Beverly, Françoise Guyonnet, John Hlavin, Heather Kadin, Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet, and Sarah Timberman.
Secret Hideout, Timberman/Beverly, and Tandem Productions will serve as the production companies, while CBS Media Ventures will be the distributor.
Just like the novel and the original movie, The Man Who Fell to Earth will revolve around an alien who arrives on Earth and take over the future of the planet, at the most important moment in the history.
The original movie was released back in 1976, directed by Nicolas Roeg and written by Paul Mayersberg. The movie which starred David Bowie also has the similar storyline, although the alien who crashes to the Earth is seeking ways to ship water to his planet which has been destroyed after a nuclear war.
The movie received quite a positive feedback from critics and its audiences. Rotten Tomatoes gives this old movie 81% critics’ review and 69% audience score, while IMDB gives it 6.7 out of 10 scores. The same novel was once adapted to a television film in 1987 as well.
Now, the upcoming TV series has faced quite a journey. It was first announced will be a CBS All Access original production. It was then revealed that the project originally was a potential Hulu (Ramy Season 3) exclusive. After CBS All Access rebranded, the show becomes the project of Paramount+, but shortly after that this TV series moved to Showtime.

The Man Who Fell to Earth: When Will It be Out?
It has been officially announced that The Man Who Fell to Earth will be premiered on April 24, 2022, on Showtime (Super Pumped). The first season will consist of 10 episodes although there is no information regarding the duration of each episode. The first episode will be titled “Hallo, Spaceboy”.
It is such a huge relieve, since the production has taken years and full of uncertainty. In May 2021, the co-creator Alex Kurtzman tweeted and documented the first day of filming.

Based on the novel, the new TV series of The Man Who Fell to Earth will take the original material and bring it to the modern era.
It will follow the story of an alien who comes to the Earth and tries to transfer resources from Earth to their planet which very much needs the resources. The alien is doing so by using his advanced scientific knowledge and technologies, as he becomes very rich in the process.
However, it will not be that easy. As he is becoming more and more suspicious, CIA and the rival technology company will try to catch him.
