When are we going to see Divine Gate Season 2?
Not a few anime nowadays are leaning towards the action genre, and Divine Gate is surely among those anime. Sad but true, Divine Gate does not shine on the scene if compared to the others, overshadowed by more popular ones by a country mile such as Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, and My Hero Academia. Despite not getting that much recognition, Divine Gate is surely not something that you can underestimate by just looking at a glance.
While most anime are adaptations of a manga/light novel, the anime series Divine Gate is adapted from a Japanese mobile game of the same name. Developed by Acquire, the video game made its first debut in 2013. There is one studio by the name of Studio Pierrot that has taken an interest in the game franchise and took the opportunity to make an adaptation out of it. Surely it’s not your first time hearing the name ‘Pierrot’, as the studio is pretty remarkable for some of its most popular anime releases such as Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto, Bleach, and Black Clover.
When will we get to see Divine Gate Season 2?
The first episode of the anime series Divine Gate was previewed at a screening TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku on December 26, 2015. The anime series had started to air on January 8, 2016, and had run for 12 episodes before concluding on March 25 of the same year. After the first season had finished premiering, many of the fans who came to a liking to the series are wondering whether there will be a continuation of it or not. So, when will we get to see Divine Gate Season 2?
As of now, we haven’t received any announcement or information from the author or the studio regarding Divine Gate Season 2. Its current whereabouts still remain a mystery by the time of writing, and we don’t know whether the anime series will get renewed or canceled.
Will there even be Divine Gate Season 2?
Although there are no official statements yet, it is best to believe that Divine Gate Season 2 might not be possible. The main reason is that the first season was a total mess. The execution was really poor, as it has many plot holes in it. Making a second season would not fill the plot holes and ironically, it would make it worse as it will introduce us to even more plot holes and cause more confusion.
Many of the viewers were disappointed by the adaptation and it was not well received. In MyAnimeList, the anime series Divine Gate received a depressing score of 5,56 and the series doesn’t receive that much recognition on the page. That said, the odds of Divine Gate Season 2 are close to nil, even though if we’re talking about the source material, it has more than enough for a season renewal.
Also, the game service for Divine Gate had officially ended on December 11, 2018, and it adds a reason why Divine Gate Season 2 will never happen, as there is no more source to promote.
Divine Gate Action
The legend of the Divine Gate is a story told to young children that depict the merging of the living world, the heavens, and the underworld. “Adapters”—people born with unique elemental abilities gifted to them from the union of these worlds—formed the World Council, an organization that controls the chaos of the Gate by portraying its legend as nothing more than a myth. These Adapters train in a special academy owned by the World Council that allows the students to hone their skills.
Aoto, a teenage boy with exceptional water powers and a tragic past, rejects the offer to join the academy numerous times—until he is successfully pressured by the energetic wind user Midori and stubborn fire user Akane. Together, with the World Council and their mysterious leader Arthur, they seek out the Gate in the hopes of uncovering the truth. But in order to reach their goals, they must unite and overcome their own despair while dealing with behind the scene mischief.
