From the British writer of The Night Manager David Farr, another science fiction mystery TV series is coming this year, with the title The Midwich Cuckoos.
Based on the mystery creepy science fiction novel with the same title by the English author John Wyndham, the upcoming TV series will consist of eight episodes and will be premiered on Sky TV.
According to the subtle synopsis, The Midwich Cuckoos will talk about a mysterious English town where nothing much happens, and for a very good reason.
In the original science fiction bestseller novel in 1957, it follows the story of a small village in England, where the child bearing age women mysteriously get pregnant. It turns out that their baby is not human, but parasitic aliens. In the upcoming TV series, the story from the 1957 will be brought to the present day and will set in a small city outside of London.
The original novel has been previously adapted to two movies as well, which both of them have the title Village of the Damned. The first movie was released in 1960 and was a black and white movie. It was directed by Wolf Rilla, and starred George Sanders, Barbara Shelley, and Laurence Naismith. IMDB gives it 7.3 out of 10 scores.
The second movie was released back in 1995, directed by the director of Halloween John Carpenter, and was set in North Carolina instead of England. It starred Christopher Reeve, Kirstie Alley, and Mark Hamill.
It has also been revealed that Alice Troughton will helm the upcoming TV series as the director. So when will the TV show be released and who will appear in the series? Here is what we know so far about The Midwich Cuckoos.
