Four years after the fifth installment was released, there is still no sign regarding when Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is going to be out.
Created by Walt Disney Pictures (Hocus Pocus), the first movie premiered in 2003 with the title “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. The second movie with the title “Dead Man’s Chest” followed three years later in 2006. The third movie “At World’s End” was released in 2007, the fourth movie “On Stranger Tides” was out in 2011, while the fifth installment “Dead Men Tell No Tales” was released in 2017.
After earned US$4.524 billion from five movies in this franchise, they are ready to hit the screen with Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Back in 2017, when the fifth movie was released, the director Joachim Rønning revealed that it would not be the last movie in the franchise. A year later, the producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 was under development.
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most popular fantasy franchises there is, and since the first movie was released, the reviews are very positive. But the enthusiasm is getting lower and lower as more sequels are released, but it didn’t stop the creators to create more movie in this franchise.
The decrease of enthusiasm can also be seen from the score on IMDB. The first movie receives 8 out of 10 score, while the fifth installment only receives 6.5 out of 10.
Pirates of the Caribbean also have won many awards, including Academy Awards and BAFTA Awards for Best Visual Effects, People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Movie, Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for Favorite Male Movie Star (Johnny Depp), and many more.
Since this franchise is very popular, many people expect a lot for the next movie. And here is what we know so far about Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
When Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will be Released?
Even though there is a green light for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, the official release date hasn’t been announced yet. The fourth and the fifth movie has a 6-year gap, so we shouldn’t expect that the 6 installment will be released soon, given that there is a COVID-19 pandemic going on as well that may delay the filming process.
What we do know so far is that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is still under development. However, if it is true that there will be a 6-year gap, then we can expect to see the sixth movie in 2023.
Pirates of the Caribbean 6: Possible Plot
Although there hasn’t been any official information regarding the plot, there are rumors that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will be a reboot instead of the continuation of the previous movie. It means that there will be new faces and there will no longer be Jack Sparrow.
Thus, we may not see the characters played by Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, or Keira Knightley. The first movie was released almost two decades ago, so it can be understood if they want to have something new and fresh.
We still don’t know yet how the reboot—if it is happening—is going to roll out, at least until there is another hint from the creators.
Who will Play in Pirates of the Caribbean 6
Since there will be major changes in the story of Pirates of the Caribbean 6, so will the cast. The most controversial rumor is that Johnny Depp will not be part of the next movie—well, what is Pirates of the Caribbean without Jack Sparrow after all?
Johnny Depp is recently involved in scandals which stained his reputation. We still cannot be sure that we will see Orlando Bloom (Carnival Row) and Keira Knightley as well, so expect to see new faces in the next installment.
Meanwhile, Margot Robbie is reported will join Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Kaya Scodelario (who plays as Carina Smyth in “Dead Men Tell No Tales”), also confirmed that she will return, as well as Bill Nighy as Davy Jones and Lee Arenberg as Pintel, who are excited to return in another movie.
