It has been 5 years since we last saw the Durarara!! series. The first release of the Durarara!! anime was in 2010 with Durarara!!, also known as the first season of the Durarara!! series, by studio Brain’s Base, the same studio who adapted Baccano!. The first season of Durarara!! was released with a total of 24 episodes. We later got the second season of Durarara!!, which is more often called Durarara!!x2.
There are three seasons to the Durarara!!x2. The first one is called Durarara!!x2 Shou, which was released in early 2015, from January 10 to March 28. The second season was released later on that same year from July 4 to September 26 and is called Durarara!!x2 Ten. The last season was released the next year in 2016, from January 9 to March 26, and is called Durarara!!x2 Ketsu. Each season has 12 episodes in it. Unlike the first season, Durarara!!x2 was adapted by studio Shuka. The same studio also worked on other anime such as 91 Days and The Case Files of Jeweler Richard. Both seasons of the anime is licensed by Aniplex of America.
Durarara!!, commonly abbreviated as DRRR, is adapted from a light novel series written by Ryohgo Narita. He has also written the light novel for Baccano!. Whilst the art for the light novel and also the character design is done by Suzuhito Yasuda. Now the question is, when will we get Durarara!!x2 Season 3/4 (Durarara!!x3)?
Durarara!!x2 Season 3/4 (Durarara!!x3) Release Date
Currently, we are still waiting for any announcement from studio Shuka about Durarara!!x2 Season 3/4 (Durarara!!x3). Some fans referred to it as Durarara!! Season 4, since they see Durarara!!x2 Ketsu as the third season. Others referred it to as Durarara!!x3, continuing from the pattern of the 2 previous titles. Every single release from the Durarara!! series has received positive feedback from the fans, seeing that all of them have a rating of 8 or higher on MyAnimeList.
Fans have been demanding for another installment from the series. Especially considering that there are enough content for the studio to adapt Durarara!!x2 Season 3/4 (Durarara!!x3). The light novel finished publishing on January 10, 2014, and currently has 89 chapters. However, judging from the gap that we had to endure previously between the release of Durarara!! and Durarara!!x2, it is likely that fans have to wait a bit longer to see Durarara!!x2 Season 3/4 (Durarara!!x3). Durarara!!x2 came out five years after the first installment, and it has been more than five years since then, therefore fans might have to wait even longer compared to the first time.
